  • Is this normal?

    good afternoon all!

I ran out and bought some of those keto strips that see you all talking about and starting checking to see if I am dumping ketones like I am supposed to. Well I did the test and if I am reading the tube right, it says I am putting out a moderate to heavy amount of ketones. Is this what I am supposed to be doing?

Also, and this is such a silly question, but when can I have peanut butter? For some reason, I have been craving the PB like you wouldn't believe!

    Thanks!

    Kat

Can't help with the keto stix, as I've never used them. However, you can have peanut butter when you get onto the nut rung......what rung are you on now? I believe the nut rung is the 3rd rung, right after dairy.

As long as there is some indication you're good, i prefer the traces reading as it means my body is getting enough water... remember not to test first thing in a morning or after exercise.

        Hi there!

In the book, you'll learn that peanut butter is on the nuts rung. I'm hoping you've read the book and just somehow missed that part. <wink> If not, you really gotta read it. You don't want to miss out on anything fabulous because you didn't read the book, now do ya?

I haven't read the book...I don't even own it actually, lol. I just go off of what is on the Atkins website.

Eek! You gotta get that book! At the very least, check it out of the library! Once you've read it, you'll know that it is a must have.

Arming yourself with the good doctor's information will do more for your Atkins journey than anything else. You must learn the fundamentals of this WOL to do it properly and reap the full benefits!

Now, get thee to a bookstore/library!

when would be the best time to check ketones? I find in the morning I am lower, but when I get home from work, and through the night higher. Thanks.

I read it either in the book or on the product information that the Ketone should be tested in the evening or before going to bed. At least that's what I am doing and it works.

                  Re: Is this normal?

My reading first thing in the morning is always lighter too. Maybe it's because I haven't "gone" all night so there is more fluid for the ketones to float around in!

I'm trying not to check it so often because it can become addictive - kind of like the scale addiction I've read about on this site. But it definitely is a motivation to see the color on the stick - a visual confirmation that I haven't goofed anything up.

                    Re: Is this normal?

I wish I could even get the stix...they don't sell them here. I have no idea what is going on with the ketones in my body, but I do know that I am craving today like a mad woman.

It's TOM week and I had no cravings before or - for a few days during (I'm a week long girl when it comes to TOM), but today. I think it's due to the lack of sleep...I'm trying to stay awake or at least my body is since my mind seems to be fine and I need something and I get like this when I don't sleep well or long enough (up today at 5:00 a.m. and couldn't fall back). Since I've been tracking my sleep patterns for a while now to see what triggers my cravings/binging I've noticed it's sleep. I find my body is looking for something to keep me awake and since caffeine is no longer part of my day...I am struggling. I'm not going to cheat by any means, since I am doing this for myself, but I just thought I would put that in there since I am stuggling today.

Phew...ok. I'm off to drown in some water now.

you could probably find them on a website that probably ships to you. Just google them.

                      They are addicting to check.
