    HELP!
Can you eat too many carbs (say 25-30) and fall out of ketosis? How quickly can you get back to ketosis? Do you have to start induction from scratch?
I am in week three, lost 21.5 lbs and my ketosis strips have fallen back to "trace" of ketones. I upped to 30 carbs two days ago after a week at 25.

Ketosis is like being pregnant. Either you ARE or you AREN'T!!!

Some people have never had the ketostix change color, others have always been dark purple, some have always been trace, and some, like me, have never even used the buggers!

If you have ANY color change, you are in ketosis. The strip color can also be affected by dehydration and how much fat you're eating. And anyway, ketosis only tells you if you're burning fat, not where it's coming from. It could just be the fat from your foods, or the fat from your body.

Stay at 30g of carbs and monitor your progress for two weeks. If you lose inches or pounds, you're still doing fine with no need to drop back down. If for some reason you do get knocked out of ketosis, congrats, that means you've found your CCLL (Critical Carbohydrate Level for Losing). Eat below this number and you will continue to lose weight. If you're knocked out of ketosis you DON'T need to go back to induction--just drop down 5g carbs and continue your plan.

Actually, if you are adding extra net carbs you are no longer on induction but on the first rung of OWL !!

Have you added any non-induction foods yet or are you adding more vegetables only

As Julie said, you might have a low CCLL, so when you do decide to start adding the other OWL rungs you would need to do what we call here 'modified OWL' where you keep your carbs fairly low and swap out the different food groupd to see what affects you but keep the carb level down to below your CCLL.

It might be time to re-read the OWL chapter in DANDR and the stickies in the OWL forum to get a handle on how to do this.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
