  • Protein Shakes??

    I am actually still doing Induction..it has been about 16 days..I have been going to the Gym and my trainer suggested that I began to take Protein Shakes..Will this Affect if I'm in Ketosis or not?? If someone can help me, It would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

    Protein shakes are generally not legal for induction, as most protein shakes are either WHEY protein (legal on rung 2 dairy of OWL), or SOY protein (legal on rung 6 legumes of OWL).

    It's best to stay away from "frankenfoods"--chemically manufactured or engineered foods that contain additives, preservatives, and chemicals.

    You should be eating 30% protein on Atkins...I'm not sure that you would need protein shakes unless you are doing SERIOUS bodybuilding. However, if you DO want to have some sort of protein shake, you can make a legal one that will be cheaper, and has no preservatives.

    Combine silken tofu, a bit of cream, some water, and sweetener. Blend until well-mixed. This is a healthy and fresh protein shake base. As you move up the rungs of OWL, you'll be able to add peanut butter, berries, etc.

      I've been drinking protein shakes since the first week, I am in week 5 and lost 40 lbs so far. I drink EAS (energy/athletic/strength) drinks fro GNC, or Walmart. They are 17g protien, 1g net carbs and come in vanilla or strawberry. The reason why I drink them is that I HATE to eat breakfast. After my morning swim, I drink a shake three days a week. I think its better than not eating breakfast at all. I have now come to love drinking them, and it has replaced my need for coffee on the way to work! Everyone avises against them, but I found them to be very useful both in the morning and if I am at work and can't get lunch in time.
