  • Flax Question

    Hello,

I made some really great flax/pumpkin pancakes for breakfast this morning. I've never used flax too much, because I just found it. My question: Is there a daily limit for flax? I am on extended induction.

    Thanks so much!

    Re: Flax Question

According to the book, flax as other seeds and cereals like whole wheat, doesn't have an impact on insulin levels. Flax is mainly composed of fiber, and fiber cannot be digested by the body, so it helps to fight constipation. I would recommend you dont abuse it, just in case.

        Re: Flax Question

What phase are you one? I hope you're not on Induction. I believe flax is only recommended for a later Rung in OWL.

          Re: Flax Question

          Elsy is right...

Here is a post made by one of our experts about this question:

Re: Flax and Baking Powder Acceptable?
Flax is limited to 1 tablespoon daily for use a fiber supplement. If you are using it to relieve constipation, you can use more, until you find relief of your constipation.

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------

In induction, it is only to be used as a fiber supplement (1 tablespoon) and relief for constipation. You shouldn't start baking or cooking with flax until Rung 3 of OWL.

            Re: Flax Question

Thanks so much for the replies. I am on extended induction. I made the pancakes with 1/2 c.pumpkin, 1tsp. cinnamon, 1 egg, and 1tbsp. flax. I grilled them in butter.

Is this appropriate for extended induction? Again, thanks for the help!

I don't see anything wrong in your pancakes. And it sounds SOOOO delicious!
