  • Getting kinda itchy

So, I'm almost through induction, Tuesday would be the last day and I'm actually looking forward to moving to owl but I have not even lost 1.5 kg up until now and still have about 19 kg to go so I seem to not handle carbs very well.
I don't know now if I should really move on or extend.
Sure I might lose a few more grams until I'm through induction but I can't imagine it's gonna be much.
I am losing centimeters though, 11 so far if my measurements were acurate but yeah...that's not really counting when I have to calculate my carb resistance level.
What's the best thing to do now?
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

    Re: Getting kinda itchy

personally i recommend moving to OWL - i've lost more weight on that than i did on induction!

Your loss is average dont stress! its about 10% of what your wanting to lose in total so thats perfectly normal.

losing inches is the best! dont knock it! i'd rather lose inches than pounds any day!

      thanks Emma.
I'll stick to my original plan then and move to OWL on Wednesday.
I'm not the most patient person, so I guess I just have to learn to deal with things going slower than I hope

I agree with Emma... move to OWL. Many people lose more (or at least just as much) on OWL, particularly the first rung, which is more veggies. You can stay at the first rung for a good long time, if you want to.

Also... if you're losing inches, then you're slimming down. The scale weight will catch up when your body is ready.

Congrats on your success so far!

          Re: Getting kinda itchy

Monday is the end of the 14 days, and I am quite sure that I haven't lost any pounds, since I didn't have a scale until yesterday, and was using other scales to see where abouts I started at. My bf has lost nearly 15 pounds. I am wondering if I should stay on induction or move on? I need to measure, since I haven't done that, and I know I am in ketosis since the strips are showing it. I've been totally good on induction, with the exception of a couple of cocktails (vodka and club soda). I've given up diet coke, drink tons of water and kept my carbs at 20 or under. Should I stay or should I go?

            thanks sally
yep, I'll do the veggies and if things just keep going like they are now, I'll just move through the rungs.
in the end you are right, it's not like nothing is happening (went 1 dress size down already )

              Re: Getting kinda itchy

In chapter 13 of DANDR Dr Atkins poses some questions to which the answers will help you decide whether to stay on induction or move to OWL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                  Re: Getting kinda itchy

so yesterday was my last day of regular induction and I was hoping to get my final through-induction-weight this morning and what do you think...TOM is coming and I had a whooping 300 grams more on the scale than yesterday (no inches gone either)
I'm not quite sure now if I should really go to OWL now considering I won't really know if for example the brussels sprouts or broccoli I was planning to eat for the first time will change anything.
Should I extend induction for a week until this cr*p is over or do you think those 5 carbs from new veggies won't make a difference anyway?
grrrrrr, I'm so annoyed, it wasn't supposed to go this way

                    Re: Getting kinda itchy

I don't think it matters either way really... postponing a week isn't much. If you're wanting the extra veggies, then move.
TOM is a real nuisance, isn't it? Messes everything up for a bit. Hang in there though and you'll soon be back to more reliable scale and inch readings. You're doing fine.

                      Re: Getting kinda itchy

thanks sally, I've decided to go this way as well.
luckily I got my ketostix delivered today so I'll just make sure nothing kicks me out of ketosis and then I should be fine.
I had my brussels sprouts, yummy, so I happy I did it.
Now I just have to wait until I'm not bloated anymore LOL...I hate TOM :/
