KETOSIS - why wont it let me?

    Dot -- TRaces is the BEST reading to get with the Ketostix. It means you are hydrated properly as well as burning fat. If the Stix show Dark -- then you are dehydrated!

      Is that really true? I hope not! Mine were as dark as it got yesterday. I drank about 90 oz water, 2 c coffee and a few herbal teas.

        Yep 'tis true . Remember any driks containing caffeine such as coffee and cola will dehydrate you as they are diuretics. If you drink coffee etc you need to drink even more water. Herbal teas are ok as long as they are caffeine free. Remember the 86oz recommendation is the MINIMUM you should drink. The more weight you need to lose the more you need to drink as your body needs to be sufficiently hydrated to metabolise fat. I drink around 4 liters of water a day (about 172oz)

          Oh wow! I'm caffeine free on the drink so no issue there. 174 is alot. You must have adjusted to so much though.

            Add to that that they only indicate *excess* keytones. Being keytones are what we burn for energy, if you're burning lots of energy (i.e. workouts, etc) then you're not going to have as many excess. :shrug:

            Keytone strips...as noted above several times...are pretty useless.

                  Ok, I just got home after purchasing a bottle of Ketostrips. It showed a "trace" if even that. But today is my 14 day of induction and Ive lost 19 pounds so Im gonna try and never dip again, lol, (that hurt my feelings lmao).

                    Tulsanurse~ I think they are different for everyone. I drank a gallon yesterday plus herbal tea (because of reading about dehydration in this thread) and was the darkest purple. I can't imagine I'm that dehydrated. Maybe its my meds?

                    You are obviously in ketosis because you are big time kicking butt on those pounds. I read that some people never register on the sticks. 19 lbs is amazing!

                      Thank you time2shine. Now if I could just shed this last 90lbs lol that quick. lol. Im gonna be happy if I lose 5 pounds a week, maybe 4. I think that the smaller I get, the slower Ill lose, but my daughter get mad cuz she says I always lose weight fast. She has to really really try hard to lose it.

                        Yeah it does slow as we get closer but wow are you off to a quick start! I'd be jealous too if I were dd.
