  • 2 Months!!

    Well Im Just Over My 2 Month Mark And Up Untill About 2 Weeks Ago I Was Losing Steadily...i Dropped 30 Lbs And Nothing In Over 2 Weeks Ago...i'm Still On The Extended Induction And Havent Cheated Once...my Friend And I Started At The Same Time And Im A Few Lbs Behind Her....im Drinkin My Water And Eating My Veggies But Im Stuck!! Any Suggestions??

    You have to wait for the woosh fairy, at least that's what I've heard. There's a name for it, and the acronyms are P.I.S.S. It's when you stall. Nothing you can really do except wait for your body to catch up.

    Unless you've added something new to your diet. If you have a food diary go back through it and see what you have eaten that could have caused a stall. Otherwise, you just have to wait it out.
    A loss of 30lbs is pretty good. Great job, don't give up, just give your body time.

      Congratulations for losing 30 lbs. That is an amazing accomplishment and you must be so proud of your hard work and commitment to this WOL.

      Maybe you would like to measure during the "no weight loss" times. Sometimes inches are dropped before a loss of fat shows up on the scale. This has been my experience the since I started Atkins in June.

        As well as what the others said - maybe it is time to start the second phase of Atkins - Ongoing weight loss (OWL).

        Staying on induction for a long period does not always mean faster weightloss as many of our members can attest to!

            Yes... you can safely stay on induction if you like, but often moving to OWL jump starts weight loss again if there is a pause. Pauses are natural and happen to almost everyone.. moving to OWL can shorten that "pause".
            Lots lose more on OWL than in induction... particularly the first rung, which is more veggies... and you can stay there for a good long time, if you want to.

              YEs - and many people stay on induciton much longer too - I did for the first 100 pounds of my weightloss which was for about 18 months.
              BUT Dr Atkins advocated a longer induction period for those with lots to lose and by your statistics

              you have already lost 30 of the 70 you wanted to lose, so to my mind are in the ideal position to start climbing the carbohydrate ladder now.

              Working OWL to your benefit can take a longish while as you add 5 net carbs of a food, see if it affects your body by slowing or stopping weightloss or affecting cravings etc, then try another food on the same rung and repeat, and it seems to me that those with only a few pounds to lose have more problems with OWL as they are already on the slower loss phase (which we all experience as we approach our goal weight) whereas those with a good amount still to lose are able to recognise stallers etc more easily.

              Another thing I wanted to mention is - try not to compare your losses with anyone else. I know it is hard not to, but that way lies frustration The chances of your friend having exactly the same metabolism as you are slim to nil, so it is not a 'level playing field'.

                Thanks For The Advice Every1....i Added I Cup More Of Veggies Like U Suggested..i Still Dont Understand How Eating More Is Gonna Make It Better But U Havent Steered Me Wrong Yet!! Ill Let U Know How It Goes....
