    Hi everyone. I'm new to the atkins diet and today is my 17th day. my mom introduced me to it. She's been my motivation through all my cravings. Well she's going away for a few days I'm already thinking about what delicious foods I'm going to have while she's away. I'm going to go to the gym after work everyday so that I don't have too much idle time to daydream about cookies, cake, ice cream etc. I guess I haven't kicked the addiction to carbs yet. Could it be the decaff coffee with sweet n low I have about 4 -5 days a week? The cream I put in is where I get most of my carbs from. I eat my servings of veggies everyday and I'm in trace of ketosis haven't left but why won't it show darker? I'm 5'8 and I started at about 173 now I'm down to 167. My goal weight is 145 or 150(I want to keep my curves, I just want to tone more)I plan on staying on induction for another week or two. Can someone give me some advice on something I may be doing wrong. This is my daily menu

    breakfast;
    1 cup egg whites, 4 sausage links or 5 strips of bacon, 12oz cup of decaf coffee with 3 servings(6tblsp) of half and half and 5 packets of sweet n low

    lunch:
    chicken breast and a wing rotesserie style, and 2 cups of lettuce or 1 cup of mixed veggies

    Dinner:
    1 can of tuna with mayo and onions and peppers(not a lot) and 1 cup of lettuce. Or sometimes I have a chicken leg and thigh rotesserie style with the lettuce.

    I had sugar free gelatin 3 days last week for desert.

    I also weight train 4 days a week and I run 3 days a week so I'm keeping active everyday.

    I am slightly concerned that you are having 5 packets of sweet n low in your coffee!

    I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

      So is that the reason? It says 1 carb per packet. I'll cut the coffee out and see what happens. But then I'll want diet soda or something. I just can't stand to drink only water 24/7.

        Cut out the coffee for a week, including the half and half and see what happens, that could be the problem. Re water, once you start drinking lots of it, you will begin to crave it and it makes the diet so much easier.

          cut out the sugar free jello too! its sweetened with aspartame which is a known staller!

            Thanks so much. You look great in your pictures so I'll put my faith in what you say lol. I definitely lost inches but I'm a scale kind of person. If I don't see it moving I get my mouth moving( on something very unhealthy)

              I agree with the comment that you'll crave water. I used to drink two diet cokes in the morning (don't like coffee), and one at lunch. I have since cut that out and have had since I started induction,(July 2) 1 regular diet coke and a couple of diet coke with splendas. Sometines I'll have a Hansens Diet (w/splenda) creamy rootbeer but not very often. For change, I'll drink plain soda water too. I'm not having great weight losses (about 12 pounds so far), but I do crave water, and drink a ton of it.

                Its 100% the half and half an creamer! Ditch it! While you're at it, ditch the coffee completely. AND the sugar free jello.

                Don't replace your "crutch" or what someone on another board I know calls "methadone" with just another one (ie. diet soda) either. If you want FREEDOM from thoughts about sugar and junk food, cut it all out INCLUDING artificially sweetened JUNK and your mind WILL stop thinking about it...and your body WILL STOP craving it.

                  Ditto what the others have said, and I'd underline the water. I always found that the more I drank the more I lost. If you drink your water cold it helps too. It takes energy for the body to heat up the cold water and it's surprising how much that can affect your losses.

                      Wow! That's interesting!! When I started induction, I was drinking cold water. Now I've switched to not putting ice in my water, because I can drink it faster.

                          People have offered you great advice with regard to the foods and what to stay away from. They know of what they speak. The only advice I will give is to think about how strong you will feel if you have a craving and can tell yourself that you are better than a piece of carb laden food! We all experience cravings of some sort from time to time, but how you handle them will determine how well you achieve your goals with Atkins. Best wishes.

                            Personally I think you need to have a think about what you're EATING

                            5 PIECES OF BACON FOR BREAKFAST!?!??!!!? Are you serious??? No one - and I dont care how hungry you are, what size you are, where you are - no one needs to eat FIVE pieces of bacon for breakfast! Thats WAY TOO MUCH. Its too much food ANYWAY plsu its BACON. We are meant to eat proteins. That DOES include bacon, but that doesnt make bacon GOOD for you!!!! Besides that, its likely to be cured in suagr, and it has way too much salt which will make you retain water!

                            ALSO - if you're putting 5 sweet n lows in your coffee, you obviously dont LIKE the taste of coffee (without the fake sweet), and since the coffee is DECAF there is no point in drinking it. Find a splenda sweetend drink and have that ONCE instead - or have a herbal tea without sweetener if you cant hack just drinking water.

                            Thats my opinion - not trying to get up you! Im proud of you for how well you've done.... but seriously cut down on the bacon.... you're theoretically eating 35 pieces of bacon a week.

                              Well I generally eat 5 slices of bacon sometimes 6 at breakfast. I cook it really crisp and it doesn't seem like alot to eat with eggs. Call me crazy I just don't think thats alot of bacon. Now I agree if you eat it 7 days a week, maybe a little much...but a couple of times a week really shouldn't be an issue. Some mornings you could have a slice of ham with eggs, or some sausage pattys or no meat at all.

                              Anyway, just wanted to share.
