        Can I take a crack?

First recommendation is to go through your kitchen and get rid of all the carb junk you aren't going to want anymore. If its partially used toss it, if it's new give it to a friend/neighbor or a food bank. Of course, if you live with someone who isn't on the plan then you may want to skip this step....they tend to get rather upset.

Anyway, here area couple of maily menus. Pretty standard for what I ate while in induction. For breakfast I usually have some variety of eggs, for lunch and dinner it's a meat and some vegetables.

        Day one:

Breakfast - 3 scrambled eggs with 1 ounce of grated chedder cheese. 3 strips of bacon.

Lunch - chicken salad (shredded chicken, mayo, maybe some chopped celery) 1 cup salad with bacon bits, some blue cheese crumbles, a few slices of mushrooms and some blue cheese dressing.

Dinner - Steak, seasoned however I like but often with a grilled bell pepper and some red pepper flakes on the steak. 1 cup steamed broccoli with butter.

        Day 2:
Breakfast - Omelette with peppers, 1-2 ounces swiss cheese, sausage (when I could find some with no sugar/fillers), bacon. Maybe a little salsa and a tablespoon of sour cream on top if I felt like it.

Lunch - Fish, tuna or salmon usually, either a fillet with butter and pepper or chunked up with mayo and some diced dill pickle. Along with either a salad similair to the one detailed for the first day's lunch, or a cup of vegetables from leftovers the night before.

Dinner - Big slice of ham. A cup of mashed cauliflower, or maybe a salad depending on the vegetable I had for lunch.

        Hope that helps

Ahh, well I understand the idea behind the 5 smaller meals thing, and it makes sense, but I was just never a big snacker so I didn't usually bother. When I did get the occasional hunger pang or craving and it wasn't near a meal time I would usually chug a bottle of water or grab something high in fat, like pork rinds. A couple of those go a long way

To me the important points are:

              1. Eat when you are hungry
              2. Each only until satiated, not when your plate is clear or until you feel full.
              3. Learn the acceptable foods, especially the "salad" vegetables list and the "other" vegetables list.
              4. Spread your vegetables out over at least two meals.

How much do you weigh and what is your height?

For the first month here is my daily routine. It wasnt exactly following atkins but it was low carb.

I would eat a half pond hamburger w/ lettuce tomato and shredded cheese. And then when I felt I was getting hungry I would tear off some sharp chedder cheese about 2 to 3 ounces and then when I got hungry again I would eat the hamburger again (the same way as above. If I felt hungry before I went to be I would eat more cheese.

I didnt eat hamberger everyday. Every 3 days I would substitute it with grilled chicken breast.

The second and third month I added Ground Sausage and bacon to my diet. It would be the same as above (the hamburger & Chicken) but with ground sausage and bacon.

I also drank about 140 ounces of water each day!!

About a month ago I started to eat just salad w/ chicken, Jalapenos shredded cheese , tomatoes and cajun spice with 2 ounces of Blue Cheese dressing. For the last month that is all I have eaten on a daily basis, When I get hungry I snack on String and sharp cheeder cheese.

For the first 4 months my daily carb total was about 7-10 carbs a day. Since I started eating just salad and chesse it is about 30 carbs a day.

Also you can find cheese, sausage and bacon with 0 carbs and 0 sugars. I think that helped me out tremendously. Hope all of this helps..

Just one point that Moose didnt make clear here, Mark.
Many people find too much cheese can hamper their weightloss which is why Dr Atkins gave a limit to us.
So on induction there is a limit on cheese of 3-4 ounces per day!

Also someone like Moose who had over a hundred pounds to lose will probably be able to eat more food and lose weight than someone like you with less to lose!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
