  • Did I mess up?

Earlier this week, a friend of mine brought me over a couple of the Atkins meal bars that he found while he was still on the diet (they hadn't expired). He said he did most of his induction period, at least one meal a day, with the bars. I had two of them, one a day, and after finishing the second one noticed the descrepency in the nutrition facts (14g net cabs) and the front of the package, which the atkins institute said only 3g net carbs would have an effect on me by eating the bar.

Needless to say, I stopped eating them and went back to following the normal induction food list. My question is though, are the bars okay to eat, or should avoid them until a later stage?

I would avoid them because they stall a lot of folks. Better to eat "real", less processed foods in my opinion. Good luck to you!

Dwlester, do a search here on the boards and you'll be astounded at the amount of questions/responses to the Atkins Bar dilemma.

The general consensus on them is: They're crap. They're low-carb junk food. They have "mythical magical carbs that don't count" , they're full of ingredients it requires a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce......

and they're notorious for stalling people too.

General rule of thumb for success: If it requires a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce it, you probably shouldn't eat it.

Not to mention that they have non-induction friendly ingredients.

Thanks for clearing that up. I would have run a search, but for some reason the firewall my company is behind allows me to post, but not use the search function.

Thank you all for your responses.
