Re: Weight loss is not linear

Hello, it has been 1month on induction and I've only lost 10 lbs. 2 of which I gained last week, My question is this, I have been testing for ketosis and my strips turn dark mauve which i assume is good, but they never turn all the way purple, and I am eating what the list allows me. I test late evenings at 10pm usually. I am feeling very very discouraged, I just don't know what else to do, the first 2 weeks of induction were great but now I feel an energy crash. I've been reading up on the addictions forum and was wondering if it is my coffee drinking habit that is setting me up for failure, as for today I am going to try to get through my day without caffeine to see if my LTS strips will turn purple. Please, has anyone had this same problem with the extended induction and coffee? Also, how much cream exactly can I have on induction, how about that carb reduced milk, it has 3 carbs per 8oz. Sometimes I feel like having a cup of milk and I've been drinking cream instead but I kind've feel guilty about having 1/2 cup because it is just so rich, I've looked for the answer in the Atkins book but cream only shows up as a beverage, without the quantity. Thank you, I am looking forward receiving advice.

Why is it it when we are eating out of control we never get on the scale? As soon as we make an attempt to lose weight the scale becomes our obsession. It is a big head game,or is it just me?

My weight loss has a particular pattern...

lose a fair amount (3-4 lbs)

Stand still a couple of days....

go up 2 lbs for 2 days...

          2 days whoosh...

end up about 5lbs lighter every 8 or so days.

wish I knew what causes the whooshes...

From the list of allowed foods
Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three tablespoons a day; note carbohydrate content)
also in the 'special category' section
To add variety, each day you can also eat 10 to 20 olives, half a small avocado, an ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods.
Maybe try thinning the cream with water to make it go further?
The carb reduced milk would be allowed on the dairy rung of the second phase of Atkins, Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL)
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks, so true, so real. We all have food issues or we wouldn't have gotten here. Its easy to fall into black and white old thinking and just because the scale didn't budge throw myself into the lobby of the kryspie Kreme factory. I didn't wanna OWN the inches and measure in the begining. wish I would have. Inches dwindle even when the scale doesn't budge. this is a way of life that works... I, we gotta give time, time and Believe. Thanks to all those of you who spread the word and don't give up! Sometimes the only thing we got is that we aren't having this conversation at the donut shop! Huge hugs, Todd
