  • Just finished 14 day induction

Just finished my 14 day induction phase with good success (-22) yeah. However, since I have over 100 to lose, my plan is to extend induction for another week or two and then evaluate where I am at. I think the simplicity of induction helps while I am still re-learning to make the right decisions.

Congrats on your amazing loss so far!!

What did the book recommend you do with how much you lost in the first 2 weeks? have you checked it?

Just dont stay on induction for too long, this WOE is about finding out what our body does and doesnt like, need to hit OWL for that! I lost more weight when on OWL!

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

A round of applause to you for a very successful induction!

I'd ditto Emma's advice though that you don't take too long to move to OWL, for the very reasons she mentioned. You can actually stay on the first rung for a long time if you want to, and many people actually lose more on the first rungs of OWL than on induction. Then move slowly up the rungs, experimenting with other foods. It's fun and the added food choices are welcome.

Thanks for the encouranging words. Emma/Sally I actually decided to reread the chapter about being ready for OWL, after reading your post. I really intend to only stay at induction until I have less than 100 pounds to lose. If I can lose 5lbs this week, I will be at the 100 mark and will start rung 1 of OWL. I really do want to have this be my permanent WOE.

Wow! 22 is a staggering amount. You did excellent!

I started on 9/21/07 and am still on extended induction. I am losing slowly (only down 16) and so I'm afraid to move onto the next level but going to try it here in maybe a month or so because I've read from pretty many posts that people do better after moving up. Extended induction has been easy for me compared to all of the diets I've been on before and I don't plan on going back to bad carbs after the horrid time I spent during the first few days of induction trying to get over them so I don't feel a time type pressure to move too quickly from one phase to the next but if it'll help I guess I should try and step myself up.

I'm anxious to see how it goes for you.

Congrats on what you've lost so far. You are amazing!

Re: Just finished 14 day induction

Just finished week of extended induction, -3 for the week (possibly 4 or 5), I am using the doctor's scale at the gym instead of my home scale (which I think is a pound or two light). My game plan is one more week on extended induction, if I am under 325 I will start OWL rung 1 next week. Must say while I do miss certain things (beer/nachos), the food I am eating (even at this level) is tastey and satisfying. Most importantly I feel so much better in general.

Re: Just finished 14 day induction

wow....22 pounds is great. sometimes i too feel like extending induction eternally LOL.....although i am probably thet one with the least amount of knowledge concerning the specifics of this diet. i always start to read the book, but i guess i am rather distractable, so then i end up doing something else LOL.....

i started this entire focus on 10/29 but had to endure a wedding last saturday and then a bachelor party last night. so i haven't had a clean two weeks of induction just yet.

so me too....i think i will keep extending induction until i can get a clean two weeks!! is this the best approach, hmmmm...i don't really know. my positive attitude, at this point, keeps me going more than my intellectual grasp of the diet.

and this bulletin board and all the people here are great and i want them to know this everyday. they all mean a lot to me.

awesome job. Sounds like you have a good plan. Induction is a bit easier, you dont have to think as much I have found, meat, veg. thats about it.

                    Keep up the good work

                            Hey BlueBelt

Sounds like we have a lot in common. I just finished induction a couple of days ago and plan on staying here another two weeks as I also have a lot of weight to lose. There is definitely some anxiety on my part about leaving the comfort of induction because it's become so easy and the results have been so great. I'm going to proceed very carefully but again, I really like the "safety" of induction. I know it's important to work the plan and OWL rung 1 is the next big step for me. I'll be watching your progress and awaiting your comments. Sort of like a "you go first" kinda thing!!

                            Good luck Blue.

Chris, Elizellen and Chopper thanks for the support.

Chopper, I know what you mean, Induction while it can be boring it is safe and easy. I did Atkins very successfully about 8/9 years ago losing a lot of weight, only problem was I never really stopped induction style eating. After time, I came bored, etc... (you know the story), but this time I really want this to be my permanent WOE/WOL so I will be taking it slowly and carefully. But I will make myself continue up the rungs, but yes I am a little nervous.

Good luck we can all do this!!
