Well, it's not uncommon. You've removed a *lot* of weight in a very short period of time. Pausing for a bit is to be expected. Be sure to read the "Weightloss is not linear" thread.

Also, fat cells produce estrogen. As they break up, you're going to have more estrogen coursing through your system. My cycle tends to get real wonky when I go through big loss phases.

If it doesn't straighten out soon, it may not be diet related and you may need to be seen.

Just agreeing with Brook said! A lot of women see their cycle go wacky for a while but it will eventually straighten itself out.

Weight loss is often accompanied by hormonal issues for a while. Usually your body settles down after a while.

If your issues continue though, and you're worried, checking it out with your doctor would be a good thing.

            Re: stalling/LONG MENSTRUAL CYCLE

I have previously found that I bleed heavier on Atkins, but don't experience the cramps. But 4 weeks? I'd be praying for menopause. I think you should see your doctor.

              Re: stalling/LONG MENSTRUAL CYCLE

It's been 2 months now for me... if I "cheat" and come out of ketosis it gradually stops to just spotting (small amounts of brown) and then a few days later I do reinduction and ketosis begins and then large amounts of bright red blood tell me I'm back in ketosis. It's part of my struggle to just get to goal so that I can stop losing and hopefully stop menstruating.

Good luck. I know I'm not anemic and my birth control pills are not even strong enough to stop it. My MD told me that she's quite certain my hormones are out of whack with this diet and isn't pleased about it. I have struggled with this for many weeks now. I'm less than 10 lbs from goal now and so grateful to be near maintenance!
