  • Tough time of year!Thanksgiving

Year after year I would sit on my couch after eating so much food I couldn't even make it to my bed!It was the expected thing to do!Then the next day start over with leftovers ,pies,etc....Well not this year,I plan on hitting my gym up on Thursday and Friday and sticking to the plan!!I am actually looking forward to my Monday weigh in,instead of dreading it. Good luck everybody!

You're gym is open on Thursday? Ours is closed...not that we'd go anway, we won't be in town. I never quite stuffed myself that much, but this Thanksgiving is definitely going to be different. No sweets and no carbs during the holidays is going to be something new for me.

I'm jealous that your gym is open on Thursday! Mine isn't, so today and Friday are my "tough" workout days, and tomorrow morning, my bf and I are going to do 1.5 hours of strength-building yoga.

Way to go on having a positive plan, and best of luck with your weigh-in!

              Re: Tough time of year!Thanksgiving

I started Atkins on September 15, 2005. I started out planning to cheat on certain holidays, but I was so pumped up by my losses, I didn't even want to cheat. What I would do was set a mini-goal for the day before the holiday or family dinner and my "reward" was to be that I got a free day to pig out. The first was a family reunion--I passed my mini-goal by many pounds and that just made me want to get on to the next mini-goal--I didn't eat one bite that wasn't legal. The next happened to be Thanksgiving--same thing happened. I had found recipes that were legal and good. I still made another mini-goal for my family's Christmas dinner--an amount that I had no idea I could reach--but I made it with pounds left over and after that I never even planned to cheat. I had lost 48 pounds from Sept. 15th to Dec. 13th!

This year, I am looking forward to my all-legal Thanksgiving--better than any carb blowout ever was. I have found so many good recipes and created even more. I'm down 120 pounds and love the way I eat now more than I ever did in my fat, unhealthy days. It's all in the attitude. Feel like you are being deprived and your body will react in a negative way. I've lost fat and gained a new attitude--the best reward of all.
