  • Too Many Calories??

I've been on atkins for 2 months...and i know i lost weight just don't know how much because scales are addictive and can throw me off focus

anyways, i been doing good these past days but today i ate a BUNCH of turkey salad...i mean it was sooo good and when i say ALOT i mean ALOT. And i'm wondering should i be worrying..the ingrediants in the turkey sald was just turkey, mayo, and green onions and seasonings but i feel so guilty for eating so much of it and i know atkins is low carbs but do you think me eating so many calories today will affect my weight loss and do you have any advice for me about how should i approach this.

I expect these wardrums to heavily awaken me in my sleep,
Weeping endures but the storms don't last a whole lifetime,
This ink will seep through this paper, these thoughts will stay deep,
Like Sam Cooke once sang, change will come, and indeed, it has came at the right time

You can't change the fact that you ate the food so there is no point in feeling guilty. Too many calories can affect your weight loss along with too much protein. Moving forward make sure you use fitday and track your foods so you know when to hold back. Binge eating, even when it is atkins legal, is not a good thing.

I'll echo what both Blue and Emma said... it isn't good to overeat, but it could have been much worse (i.e. carby!).
Try to not let yourself get too hungry, and keep in mind a picture of yourself at goal.
        You can do it!

Do you use www.fitday to keep track of your caloric intake (and carbs/protein/fat)?

Calories don't matter so much in this WOE, but if you overeat even legally, you will not lose weight.

You might want to read this site too, it's about calorie intake for losing and maintaining weight:

              Re: Too Many Calories??

Losing weight through Atkins has been the easy part for me. This way of life has allowed me to eat the way I like and is convenient. The part of any program for me is understanding why I eat, when I eat and how much I eat. For me, it comes down to planning and understanding how I feel when I am satiated. Sure, often, I'd love another helping of whatever food I think I need, but I drink a glass of water instead and usually find that I can distract myself just enough.

I use this way of life as a tool to help me accomplish my goals. I'm not going to use it as an excuse to overeat proteins and fats.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Doing this once in a blue moon is nothing to fret about. You would have to eat a pretty significant amount of calories over the course of a few days to gain just a pound of body fat.

I find it very helpful to do that. I will usually drink a 32 ounce container of water abotu 15 minutes before a meal to make sure I am ful at meal time and usually by the time the water has gone awaythe food has absorbed enough that its expanded nd I am still not hungry. who'da thunk it?
