    Re: Diet Rite cola

The Atkins diet book says that you are allowed to drink splenda based diet sodas in the induction phase. Also, Dr. Atkins reccomended that people do not use aspartame while in the weight loss phases because for some it stalls their weight loss.

If do anyone does consume diet soda, whether is it sweetend with Splenda or otherwise, there is no reason to count any carbs from it, unless the nutiritional label includes carbs. The reason being, the manufacuterers are not using the same kind of Splenda or Aspartame sweetner most consumers use. Most consumers use Splenda or Aspartame in grandular form while soda manufacturers use a liquid form. Which means there is no carbs in liquid splenda or any other liquid based sucralose, or aspartame for that matter. The Splenda that people buy in the stores (granular form) contains fillers like maltodextrin, and maltodextrin is the one that causes the carbs in grandular splenda.

True, but Dr Atkins does tell us to limit our servings of sweetener to 3 per day, which for a can of diet soda would be 1.5 servings per can!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
