  • Thinking about extended induction - Your thoughts?

I'm on day 13 of Induction. I started at 145lbs and this morning weigh in at 133 lbs. That's 12lbs lost so far in what will be 2 weeks tomorrow. I am very pleased with the results. My goal weight is 115. From reading the book several times through my 2 week induction, I am reading that it is indeed safe to stay on induction for a few more weeks. I find that I am feeling great, no real cravings, and blood sugars have been more stable this past 2 weeks then they ever have been. I am considering staying on induction for another week, ( taking it week by week) but want to ask if this is a reasonable thing to do considering I have 18 pounds more to go. I surely do not mind losing more on the faster side of things, so long as I feel good.

    What's your thoughts on this?
Anyone else who had 20-25 lbs to lose stay on induction to get to goal weight?

I think everyone fears leaving the safety of induction. It really simple - clear rules, defined lists of foods - and it works!!

But I agree with Emma totally - move on. You have no signs of having a high metabolic resistance, have not got too much to lose, and moving on to the first rung will not slow you down at all - it's just extra veg, good stuff and not going to ruin your progress.

No matter what you do you weight loss will slow the nearer you get to goal, that's just as true on induction as any other phase. In fact a slowing weight loss is part of the plan, and is desireable, believe it or not!! It allows you to ease gradually into the rest of your life and learn and establish good habits.

It's really really important to leave the safety of induction behind and learn about what and how you can eat. That's what OWL does, and progressing slowly through the rungs means more and more choice is introduced. Yes, that makes it harder, but unless you learn to deal with choice you have little or no hope of long term success. So moving on is making it more likely you will succeed long-term.
