  • My Progress on Atkins so far

    Hi Everyone~

I'm on day 18 of induction. I've lost 6 lbs. since I started, and I have been completely following the rules of induction, with no cheats at all. I haven't moved on the OWL, simply because I have not had a chance to read the next part of the book. My schedule has been so busy the past few weeks, and I honestly don't know how to move to the next phase. I thought I would have lost a few more lbs. by now, and I'm trying not to get discouraged or dwell on it. However, my clothes are fitting much better, and I have been very satisfied eating the induction allowed foods, to be completely honest. I'm going to stay on Induction for a full 3 weeks (which is actually only a few more days), and then try to move on to OWL. I just have to find an hour or two to read the next step in the book.

what are your stats, as in, how much do you have to lose? 6lbs is pretty good in my book!

You can expect to lose 5-10% of what you need to lose in induction, so if you have around 60lbs to lose, you did good!

without your stats i cant offer you much more advice, as i dont know if your on the right track or not.

Do move to OWL after the week is out, its only 5net carbs of veggies on that first rung, veggies are good for you!!

I have to add my stats to my profile, but my starting weight was 130, and now my current weight is 124. My goal weight is 117 which is a good weight and comfortable for me and my height and small size frame.

I would love to be able to eat more vegetables, especially in a serving of brussel sprouts, asparagus, green beans, etc. So to jump to OWL in a few days, I would just increase my carb count to 25 grams per day? Hopefully, I'll have a few hours to sit and read the next few chapters in the DANDR book this weekend.

Also, I wanted to add that I'm still getting cravings for sweet stuff! I really miss my blueberry muffin or carrot cake slice in the morning. When do these sugar cravings completely go away? A couple of days ago, I really wanted some peanut m&m's! Luckily, we don't have any naughty foods in the house anymore, or I would really be tempted!

Are you eating any sweet 'substitute treats'? Even artificially sweetened 'legal' foods will keep your sweet tooth alive.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: My Progress on Atkins so far

Well, I did buy a small box of Splenda packets, but for some reason I really don't care for the taste of Splenda very much. I've added just a touch of it to my decaf tea in the afternoon, and have found that I just don't care for the taste and am just having a plain cup of decaf tea. I had bought some really yummy looking cherry tomatoes at the store the other day, and when I had a few, they tasted very sweet and were so good & refreshing! Still, I have to find something else to satisfy that sweet craving that I'm still getting. If anyone has any suggestions for something a little tiny bit sweet, but still legal, please let me know. What I have to stop doing is watching the Food Network channel on TV! LOL!

Re: My Progress on Atkins so far

I stayed at near induction carb levels for about 5 months. Sheer boredom with the menu is what had me move onto the ladder. Now I am very happy with the food I can eat, and the list of ingredients is getting better by the day.

I too found that cherry tomatoes are a great 'sweet' taste!!
Also sweet red peppers and celery taste sweet to me.

5 net carbs of cherry toms is about one whole cupful so is a great OWL rung 1 addition!!
