I can't stand it anymore - what's wrong with me? I wake up with a headache and I have a headache pretty much all day. It's interferred w/ my workout routine, because I'm in too much pain. I thought it was caffeine withdraws, so I added some caffeine back in - no change. It's not my blood pressures, I take meds for that (kidney disease causes it). What else could it be? I've increased my water intake - argh! Is it a lack of carbs? I'm probably not getting 20 carbs a day (most days, I know I barely hit 15)......I can't stand it anymore...taking all of this ibuprofen can't be good, either. Any thoughts?????????

I see that you started a month ago so it can't be caffiene withdrawal or the chemicals from the "bad foods." ................Unless of course you had a cheat for a few days.
If not, perhaps you have a sinus infection or something and should see a doctor. Headaches from the induction phase should be long gone.

woah you have kidneuy siease? Have you checked with your doctor to monitor you while doing Atkins? Dr Atkins was adament those with kidney disease needed to be under the supervision of their docs.
Having said that not every thing that happens in your body will be Atkins related. go see your doctor for those headaches.by the book atkinseer

My Nephrologist is adament against me doing Atkins. But, as I've told her, I'm not upping my protein intake - I'm just eliminating carbs. I eat healthier now then before Atkins....so, I feel better about it. I'm on medication and I have my creatine (sp?) levels checked periodically. I wear contacts, just had eyes checked, no sinus issues - healthy as a horse....except for the headaches. No cheats, either. Hmmmm........

so if you lowered your carbs and didn't up your proteins you are doing a very very high fat Atkins or did you just remove the carbs form your normal low protein diet so you are just eating less total cals and the ratio of fats to carbs changed?
Is your level under 2 like Dr Atkins said?
Have you checked the muscles in the back of your neck to see if you have a tension headach or not? If the dent between the muscles back there where your scull and neck meet is missing you have muscle tension and it could be causeing your headache.
Go see your doc and tell them you are eating low carb and you have bben doing it for a month and now have a terrible headach for howevery many days you have had this headaches are nothing to play with.by the book atkinseer

thank you for your advice! I feel a dent, so must not be tension. as for the diet - hmmm...I guess I'm probably eating the same amount or less protein as before, obviously no carbs and probably higher or the same amount of fat. I don't know what that equates to....good or bad? Hmmm. I do worry about the headaches, as I'm not completely healthy - but, a doctor's visit is out of the question right now, unfortunately. I'll hang on a bit longer...it's only been about 4-5 days of the headaches. Can't be anything serious, I'm sure. Thanks again for the support!
