  • Questions about clean induction

Man, I wish I had found this board sooner! I've been doing a lot of reading since I found it last week and have come to the realization that I have never done induction as Dr Atkins meant for it to be followed. So, with that in mind, I plan on doing a clean induction starting on Monday. I have a couple of questions, though - hope they're not too silly or nit-picky...

    - If I'm under my 20 carbs for the day can I have more than 3 cups of veggies? Like an extra cup of spinach or something like that?

    - What about condiments, I went and reread chapter 11 last night but I don't remember any mention of condiments. Can we have mayo and mustard as long as we are counting the carbs and sugar is not in the ingredient list? I know things like ketchup and terryaki are out, but what about soy sauce, Worcestershire, etc...

Many of us rarely hit the 20 carb limit and averaged out around 15 or so during Induction, so it's not common to be under. For the first two weeks, stick to the required amounts of veggies and follow the plan as it's laid out. When you are done your two weeks, you can choose to stay on Induction if you have a substantial amount of weight to lose, or you can move on to the first rung of OWL, which is more veggies!
So for the first two weeks, stay at the three cup limit. :yes

Mayo is mentioned in the rules of Induction, and mustard is fine as long as it isn't honey mustard, of course. You might consider using a low carb version of ketchup or teriyaki, but wait till your first two weeks is over and make sure you count them towards your sweetener count for the day.

I don't use much soy and I don't use Worchestershire, so I don't have an answer for you there! :geek Hopefully one of the other mods will jump in.

first welcome to the board ans second you do not need to return to induction oif you are already doing atkins and in ketosis. There is no way to reclaim your clean 14 day initial induction loss after you have alrEADEY BEGUN Atkins WOL.

Do your time clean from here on out if you are still inducting and do a clean OWL if you are in OWL id all you can do now.
As to condaments read the ingredients some are allowed some aren't the full list is in chapter 11 of your DANDR 2002 or later printing.

      Happy low carbing.

Thanks for the responses. I musted have missed the mayo part, that's what I get for reading before bedtime

I'm still on induction and plan on staying here for a while longer as I have a ways to go.
