Frankenfoods are like processed foods ~ foods that aren't necessarily "pure". Like processed cheese that's made with basically preservatives and artificial flavorings and such but not "real" cheese ya know? Another good example would be imitation crab meat ~ sure it tastes alright but it's not real crab meat is it ensive

Just a tip - Don't eat that imitation crab meat - it is full of carbohydrates!!

Frankenfoods, as listed above, have come to include:

      Meal Replacement Bars, Shakes, Drinks
      Sugar Free Candies
Processed items (as the previous poster mentioned - like cheeses)

Many people find these products cause them a whole array of problems, while others feel that they are an essential part of their menu.

Certainly, it is your own choice, but if you are still on Induction, your best bet is to follow it cleanly, avoiding all processed foods, for at least the first two weeks.

After that point, if you wish to experiment Occasionally then by all means, it is your own decision.

to me frankenfood is food with that mythical magically counting noncounting carb total not matching the total carbs minus the fiber and has to be listed in some place other then the FDA nutrtion label saying net sugar carbs or effective carbs type of stuff.

It would be IF the ingredients of whichever FF you want to eat are included in the correct OWL rung that you are at.

So if they have wheat flour not till the grain rung, if soy pieces not till the legume rung, if milk products not till the dairy rung,if fruit pieces not till the relevant fruit rung etc.

Also they usually have sugar alcohols which can affect some people either by stalling weightloss or causing MAJOR bathroom problems :yikes sometimes referred to as the 'polytrots' which might have you trotting to the toilet all night so be warned.

There is a sticky on sugar alcohols here

which gives the pros and cons for you to read and think about before incorporating them into your Atkins WOE.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
