  • Looking for infomation

I would like to know if you are in ketosis does that mean that you are losing weight? I don't know how much I weigh because I don't have any scales but I measured my stomach 3 weeks ago and I've lost 3 1/2 inches since 12-26-07. I'm still trying to stay under 20 carbs. Last night my family was munching out watching the Supper Bowl and I ate 2 fig newton which was 28 carbs but I checked a few minutes ago and I'm still in ketosis. I will have to say that today I'm not feeling well properly from the sugar last night. Is there a way other than weighting that I will know if I'm losing because I measured my stomach again and I haven't lost anything. I'm really getting discouraged. I've been doing good until last night but I have no ideal if I'm losing. I weighted 320 about a year ago and properly weigh 350 now. Do they make scales that weight people my size other that the scales at the doctor?

    Thanks,

    Cindy

    Re: Looking for infomation

If you are in ketosis then my understanding is yes - you are losing weight as you are burning fat. ((Course I am not expert - one will surely come on soon ) Make sure to drink lots of water so you don't dehyrate. Don't forget our stomachs are not the only place you might lose inches (I lose faster around my rib cage -- stomach is sadly one of the last to go). Try not to get discouraged ~ its working!!! Also try to keep some Atkins friendly type of snack food around so you won't fall into temptation again. There are lots of good snack ideas out there and Linda's Low Carb recipe website has some super-duper induction friendly type desserts... just gotta find one that tempts you

Good Luck - you CAN do this!!

ketosis: in your case i would say 'yes", you are in ketosis. the proof is in the measuring tape.

if you'd like, you could read a variety of topics in the FAQ forum.
      http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...splay.php?f=79

ketosis and water are just two of the many things discussed.

as far as the scale goes, they do make them but you'll probably pay a pretty penny for them.

i think most doctors would be fine with you coming in once a week or every two weeks so you could check your progress until you could get a scale that was so high priced.

Hi cindy Welcome back to our ADBB family

Well done on the inches lost already

As to you still being in ketosis according to the sticks after eating those 28 net carbs of fig newtons - it might be that you have a fairly high CCLL which is great!

Have you any tight-fitting clothes that you can use as 'clothes of truth' to see if your body is getting smaller? Or even ones that dont fit (yet) that you can use to see how close they are becoming to doing up?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

            Re: Looking for infomation

Thanks to everyone who replied. I know that I'm not drinking my water like I should. Maybe that is why I've been sooooooo tired the last 2 days. I thought that it had something to do with the fig newtons. I know that I used to be on top of the world. I will have to say that I'm not getting enough rest. I'm working 10-12 hours 6 days a week (running a tax office by myself) and taking 4 internet classes hoping to graduate with my Associate Degree in Accounting in May.

Maybe I will fill better tomorrow. I'm going to make sure I bring some bottle water to the office. I could also use some good intro. recipes I'm tired of the same old stuff. I need something that I can fix up and eat on the run since my time is limited.
