  • Should I extend?

    Hi all!

Well, I finished my two weeks of Induction, clean as can be, sometimes scraping by right at the 20 carb minimum but getting my water and exercise in like gangbusters. I lost ten pounds the first week and none the second week. I'm wondering if I should extend. I have 180ish pounds to lose so I didn't hit the ten percent mark for weight loss.

I'm not feeling deprived on Induction so I'm almost decided to extend, but I wanted the ADBB input first. Looking forward to your wisdom.
    Tim

I personally think if you move to rung 1 which is the veggie rung and stay there it's way better than staying on induction. It's more veggies and with some people it kick starts the loss again.

I agree with Tracie! Move up to Rung 1 and stay there as long as you want, adding veggie carbs each week. Moving to OWL jumpstarts weightloss for many people, and those extra nutrients and extra fiber will do your body good! Rung 1 also broadens your food choices--you can't believe how excited I was to be able to eat more "other" veggies!

I agree, even though I did a two week extended induction, I wish I had moved to Rung 1 right after, the 5 grams more of net veggie carbs, makes eating easier. Either way you have been doing great.

        1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.

Here is my take. I had over 150 lbs to lose. I had done Atkins before, but figured that I needed to stay on extended induction in order to lose the large amount of weight, but I never really LEARNED how to eat, I ended up gettin bored and went back to my old way of eating. This time, with a lot of coaxing from others on ADBB, I went on to OWL early on, even though I still had lots to lose. Yet I continued to lose and learned as I made my way through the rungs. I am now within 3 lbs of hitting my goal, but now I am really prepared for what life will throw at me and how I am going to maintain my weight forever.

I wish you lots of success!

I couldn't agree more, the first time I did Atkins I never really learned how to make it a WOE. I lost weight, but got bored. This time I have forced myself up the rungs, I find it much more fullfilling, and I feel like I am learning how to eat properly and make this my WOE/WOL.

            Good Luck.
