Re: My Atkins Journey (so far!)

Haha yeah Im just gonna let my wife eat them so they dont temp me haha!

Thinking outside the box.. your talking to somebody with no imagination! I tried and look what it got me into! Im trying not to give up but I just dont know what to eat..I read the book but I keep missing stuff!

Like with cheese... is it cheddar only? or whats the rule? My wife just made meatloaf (no breadcrumbs or anything "bad" but she didnt use the typical cheddar she used moz. Im unsure if I can even have veggies with it now! haha. Im really doubting myself now. I thought I could have 2 Cups of salad for lunch and a cup of veggies with supper or snack.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge even after reading the book

    ~Robert

Re: My Atkins Journey (so far!)

No need to apologise, Robert - we all made bad choices and slip-ups at the start

To check what is allowed on induction when out and about there is a wallet-sized list of the allowed induction foods that you can save to your computer and print out to carry with you for reference here
      http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=3982

As for cheese, the list includes mozarella so you are fine there

for veg on induction you can have the quantities you said, and dont necessarily have to split them 2/3 at lunch & 1/3 at supper, but can spread them through the day however you like.

I try to have 'some' with each meal or snack to help even any blood sugar spikes from them, and always have some fat and protein with them too - so never just celery as a snack but always celery plus cream cheese/mayo/pate etc

And dont fall into the trap many people do of thinking 'salad veg = lettuce only' There is a list of salad veg, most with more nutrition and taste than plain old lettuce (aka chewy water)

Also the salad veg can be eaten cooked as well as raw, as also the 'other' veg can.

If you feel you are a bit limited by the 3 cups only why not move to the first rung of OWL where you can add 5 net carbs of those veggies to add variety and interest.

You can stay on that rung adding 5 more net carbs of them every couple of weeks if you are not ready to move up through the rungs of the carbohydrate ladder. Some people even do that to discover their CCLL before moving up.

One way to start thinking outside the box would be to look at old threads caleld something like 'What's for breakfast' There you can see the odd and interesting choices people make!!

And even the 'what's for lunch/what's for dinner' threads which abound have good ideas - there is no such thing as a 'breakfast' food on Atkins, we can eat whatevrr is on the list whenever we like!!

Or start a thread of your own asking for suggestions if nothing you find by a search for previous threads brings up anything that appeals to you.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

I'm not doing TOO horrible but I would have lost more weight if I wouldn't keep messing up! I'm not going FAR off of the diet but for the longest time I will treat myself with say Golden Corral but I will only eat a salad (these are great!) and some of the steak (in hopes that its not injected but they boast that its low carb here).

I've lost a total of 42lbs in ALMOST 3 months but like I said there are times that I've experimented with foods to see if I gain weight and I do. I know my lifestyle has changed for good but I am experimenting with my body to see what it will allow me to have and what it won't. I still eat like I'm on induction but I guess you can say that I've moved onto OWL by adding in veggies and dairy so far.
