  • Well here's an irritating article....

My point in posting this is to show that it's not just Atkins that is subjected to rediculous misinformation. Ignorant people will post stupid things about KNOWN healthy habits too.

Id like to dump my 32oz bottle of water on this ladys head - but I wouldn't want to waste it! :raving

    :censor idiot.

I can't believe she would word her article so that it sounds like 64oz is way too much. I understand that my ~gal/day habit could be seen as too much, but when I used to be drinking 60-80oz of other beverages per day I don't think it's too much to suggest that people drink their water. Outside of any weightloss advantages I love the way my skin looks when I've been drinking my water. It may not be "moist and dewy" but I don't get as many blemishes and I look the same whether or not I wear make-up.

Yes, what a silly report this is!

In fact, there are good reasons not to force yourself to drink too much water. Over-hydration can lead to wetting accidents as your overfilled bladder contracts before you reach the bathroom.
      ROFL!!!

So the "bottom" line... don't drink too much and save your clothes! :sarcasm

. Drinking large amounts of water will not curb your hunger, “flush” away toxins or make your skin look moist and dewy.
      1. Not recognizing they are actually thirsty, they think they are hungry and eat. Does it curb hunger? Probably not directly, but it fills a need that many misperceive.
      2. Water flushes away toxins, that is obvious to anyone who has urinated before. Does more water flush away more toxins? Well, consider that fat metabolism requires water to complete the task, so a lack of water will result in less fat metabolized when other conditions for fat metabolism are met... so in the end, yes, sufficient water equals sufficient toxin/fat "flushing".
      3. Moist and dewy skin... uh, does the tongue count? haha

And if you imbibe faster than your kidneys can process, you risk dilution of electrolytes and water intoxication, causing confusion and coma.
yes, that's true... but the 8/8 per day is per DAY not in a single sitting. That is not imbibing faster than kidneys can process, and you have a greater risk of "causing confusion" with 8 beers than you do with eight glasses of water. lol

Her whole report is about "mega-water" and she only implies that 8/8 is "mega", but the conditions she mentions are extremes and are only mentioned as possibilities for someone who drinks "too much", without saying that she means 8/8 is that too much amount.
