I woke up this morning...ready for my weigh in and feeling optimistic...I FEEL thinner....I have lost inches around my waist and chest and thighs...

and I have GAINED 3 POUNDS!!!

how could this be? I have been on Atkins for 6 weeks and I have extended my induction...why won't this weight go away and stay gone...it's driving me bats!!!

    please help...

    thanks.

I think everyone will tell you that the scale can lie. Your gain could be for so many reasons...water, etc. For example, over the past three weeks I lost nothing. I kept going up and down by the same 2 pounds even though my clothes were looser. Only within the last two days have I dropped 4 pounds. It's like the scale had to catch up. As long as you are sticking to plan and still losing inches the scale will catch up.

Also, you might want to consider moving to OWL. OWL 1 is just like induction but with more veggies. For me moving to OWL kick started my losses and I have lost 25 of my total 31 pounds on OWL. I think with 30 pounds left to lose you need to move on and learn what foods you can add into your diet.

    Trust me, OWL is fantastic.

I forget to mention that I tried a couple of times to move to OWL and I just gain weight...thats why I go back to induction...when I go back to induction, the weight comes back off......but I haven't been off induction...so why am I gaining???

      I don't have 30 pounds left to lose...I have 115 pounds left....

I should also mention that I never cheat...I ONLY eat foods on the acceptable list. I eat 3 meals and a snack everyday, all in the proper portions.

it seems like I keep having to lose this SAME 3 POUNDS over and over....

I don't know what else to do.

Oh...sorry. I looked at your smaller ticker. Try posting a menu so we can see what you are eating. Also, are you exersizing? How much weight did you lose in your first two weeks of induction? I still recommend moving to OWL 1. I stayed on it for 5 months before moving on. At what rung in OWL did you start gaining weight because I have never heard of that from adding just veggies.

          Re: question for experienced losers..HELP!!

I started at the first rung...I just added 5 more grams of carbs from veggies...

my first two weeks I lost about 5 pounds...that was during the first few days actually...then it just stopped....no weight loss...no inches loss...nothing....

a normal day for me is this (example)

          breakfast..2 eggs...sometimes with bacon or cheese...usually scrambled.

lunch...turkey and cheese wrapped in lettuce with mayo...

a protein...steak, lamb, pork, chicken or fish with a salad or veggie. I often prepare my veggies from Linda's induction friendly recipes.

          a snack...again from Linda's induction friendly recipes.

my ketostix are almost always pink.

I drink iced tea and water.....one cup of coffee in the morning.....I was using cream...gained weight so I went back to SoySlender( Iknow I'm not supposed to)...lost the weight...soy agrees with me. BTW...I AM in early menopause....I don't know if that might be a factor....

Are you exercising? This is a major factor in weight loss.

I agree with Blue about moving to OWL... you can stay on rung one for ages. Try adding in cooked veggies, like spinach, as well as salad. Cooked veggies really get things moving, in every sense.

Are you drinking masses of water? Taking your supplements?

If you're doing all the above, you might check (or get checked) for candida or thyroid issues.

I'd cut out the soyslender. Use real cream, but limit it.

If you are losing inches, then you are getting smaller which is the point. The scale WILL catch up. Obviously you are retaining water for some reason. I would suspect that you are eating something to which you are intolerant. I would first suspect the soyslender. Many, many people have issues with soy. Water retention is a symptom of food intolerance. It may be the only symptom you have.
