  • Not losing and FRUSTRATED!

    Hello everyone,

I posted my situation a while back, but I'll give a brief overview again.

I started Atkins one year ago. My fiancé and I did it together, and stayed on induction for 2.5 months. We found the WOE very easy. Within 4 or 5 months I had reached my goal (lost 25 pounds) and kept it off without a problem for the next 6 months. In January I was put on some medication that caused me to gain 15 pounds in one month. I have since stopped the medication, and have been trying to lose the weight.

I started two and a half weeks ago eating 20 grams of carbs a day, drinking tons of water, and working out. I wasn't following the "clean" induction; was eating Morning Start bars for breakfast (as I have done for a whole year), and a few foods that are not on the list for induction (even though I was below 20 grams of carbs). I lost 6 pounds in the first two days of this, but then did not lose another pound since.

So, I decided to cut out the bars and go right back to strict (or "clean") induction. It's only been 5 days, but I have not lost a single pound! I'm really frustrated and sad, and I really want to get back to my normal size again... my clothes are tight and I feel so yucky!

I will post the last few days menu to get some input. Most days look pretty much the same...

    Sunday
    Breakfast - 2 eggs, 4 pieces bacon
Lunch - 2 cups Caesar salad
Dinner - Steak and mushrooms and small salad with ranch dressing
    4 liters of water

    Monday
Breakfast - 3 eggs, scrambled and 2 cups decaf coffee with cream and splenda
Lunch - Salad with olives, small amount of shredded cheese, 1/2 tomato, chicken, and bacon with Ranch Dressing
Dinner - Two hamburger patties with thin slices of cheese on each, mayo and small Caesar salad with real bacon bits
    4 liters of water

    Tuesday
Breakfast - 2 eggs, scrambled, 1 cup decaf coffee with cream and splenda
Lunch - Broccoli salad - 1.5 cups broccoli with low carb Blue Cheese dressing and real bacon
Dinner - Caesar salad with grilled chicken

I remember your last post. Your menu looks fine. Are you drinking your water. Are you exercising.
Are you in ketosis, (bad taste in your mouth is usually a good sign)
The thing with this plan is that for some of those lucky people, every week they lose one or two pounds, but for others, (LIKE ME :wave ) do everything right for two or three weeks and don't lose a pound, or maybe gain a pound. Frustrating YES, but thats the way our bodies are.
So, please do a full two weeks strick induction, measure yourself beause we often lose inches when we don't lose weight and stay off the scales if they are mearly frustrating you.

the only thing that stands out to me is your Caesar salad, tomato, and your low carb bluecheese (i think thats what it was)

try to stay away from things that have been RE-made to be low carb. Ceasar salad has dressing that can sometimes contain sugar. I know, it sucks....

try doing atkins by the book but you aren't at the moment

        Allo,
I can understand how frustrated you are. But i think you should wait and weigh yourself atleast until a week has passed by.
I too have also restarted alot and ive realised the second time round isnt as easy as the first time the weight doesnt move as fast or as much. i think because the body knows the old trick that you used to lose the weight, So its used to it and has adjusted itself.
Also maybe you should consider leaving bacon out of ure current eating plan because of the nitrate content. I cant remember where i read an article or message about it sometimes causeing a stall(not sure though)
Anyway hang in there there is bound to be another budge soon.

          Thanks!

Well thank you for your posts. The salad dressings I use have 1 or less carbs and no sugars, so I am sure that is just fine for Induction, and was the first time around. I have not gotten strep throat and the medication for this is making eating very difficult (and keeping food down), so I am sure I will lose a few pounds from this at least! Hopefully it will start the downward spiral back to 125 pounds! Today I was 132, so only 7 pounds to go!
