20 days into Atkins, and doing extended induction. I lost 10 so far, I want to lost another 15. I am hoping the weight will just fall off. What do you think? 2 to 3 weeks?

Re: What do you think?
Depends really - do you want to lose it or to keep it off? Your losses will slow down whether you move on or not, but moving on will be much, much better at teaching you how to eat to keep it off.
I don't see any reason at all for you to stay on induction. You've lost a large proportion of what you want to lose, you haven't much to lose, you lost weight easily. All of those are indication that you should leave induction behind.Kate

Re: What do you think?
I am staying on induction, it just seems I have slowed - guess I thought I'd drop another 10 last week
If I stay on induction, even though I have stalled, will I eventually lose the weight is what I am asking - has anyone else experienced this?42 yr old Male

Re: What do you think?
I stayed on induction for a long time the first time I did Atkins and eventually lost the weight but I know it would have come off faster and stayed off if I had moved onto OWL.
No one can say if you stay in induction that your stall will pass and you'll keep losing. All I know is that I moved onto OWL this time around and my losses picked up immediately and have been very consistent.

Re: What do you think?
so you're saying that as you moved on to OWL you started losing quicker?
BTW thanks for the info - this does not seem to be a very hot thread! Thanks!42 yr old Male

Re: What do you think?
Well, as per to Dr. Atkins book, it depends on how much you are planning to loose. As far as I can recall, he didn't specify a number, but I remember him advicing his exterme obese patients to stay longer on induction before moving to OWL.
From what I understand from your signature, you are looking to loose only 30lbs and you already lost 10. I would think best is to start moving to OWL, there is no need to stay on induction. Moving up will give you the opportunity to find your CCLL/ACE, makes this WOE enjoyable for you to be able to reach your goal and will also help you get to pre-maint and maint phases in time.Start Date: 11/13/2007

Re: What do you think?
For me, yes. I have lost most of my weight (27 of the 33 pounds) on OWL. I think for me my body gets use to operating at a certain carb level and when I add new foods or up the carbs a bit it drops more weight.Originally posted by Franklin Leeso you're saying that as you moved on to OWL you started losing quicker?

Re: What do you think?
Hi Franklin, I've been reading the replies to your posting and have found them interesting.
I have two questions to everyone:
1. How fast did you lose weight after you went to the OWL phase as compared to the induction phase?
2. Does increasing either cardio and/or weight bearing exercise increase weight loss more in the induction phase or in the OWL phase?
SW = 196 lbs, FW goal = 145 lbs
2/24/08 - start of induction period: week 1 goal = 3 lbs [actual = 7.5 lbs
], week 2 goal = 2 lbs

Re: What do you think?
I had a lot more to lose than you do, but I got fed up when my losses slowed to a crawl, so I cut my veggies carbs down even further and I gained! Then I got mad, so I added a bunch of veggies that I had been missing and I had a big woosh and the losses started at a faster clip once again. I had stayed on Induction way too long and my body needed a change.Originally posted by Franklin Leeso you're saying that as you moved on to OWL you started losing quicker?
