  • For those past your 2 weeks but still on induction...

How strictly do you follow it? I am staying under 20 carbs a day, but may eat more cheese or whip up some whipping cream as a treat. I also have been buying macadamia nuts for those days when I am in the car all day and need a quick/non messy snack. Just wondering what others are doing.

Edited to add that I am on week 7.

I'm still following it strictly as I really don't want to stall myself. I've been able to cut out cheese and cream all together and with excercise have really accelerated the weight loss by following a strict and clean induction plan :icondance

I stayed on Induction for five months, and my carbs stayed pretty much in the same range as the first two weeks. I was strict, but since we are allowed 3 tbs of cream, I would have a whipped cream/creamcheese/splenda/pumpkin or flavoured extract treat once or twice a week. Induction was pretty straightforward for me, and I never thought of it as being strict, but I've had a few friends say I was pretty hardcore about it. :confused I just found it a relief to have a simple list to follow.
Near the end of the five months I found I was starting to eat more vegetables, which basically put me in the first rung of OWL.

I am in my 4th week of induction.

        Lost 18lbs so far.

I've been fairly strict, after I finished week 2 I had some red wine, I don't think I stalled, it certainly didn't boot me out of Ketosis.I am still losing, sticking to about 15-20 carbs a day.

I some times have different vegetables as well and weight loss seems to be ongoing.

I find I have very little apetite and no desire for anything sweet, which makes it easy for me.

Red wine is one failing....but I'm being good.

        Honest.

I'm sticking to the original induction-allowed foods. Actually, I've never had cream since I started. I'm really not sure which one to get so I just avoided it!

I'm soooo dying to try the cream/splenda/extract. I bet it's delicious over S/F jello!

I'm in my 5th week. I stay pretty strict overall. I'm not bored yet, so I figure i can be here awhile. I did try a handful of almonds the other day - but wnated more and more so I'm pretty certain nuts will be something I'll need to avoid, even when I do OWL officially.

If you haven't yet read the 2002 Version of the DANDR book, you really owe it to yourself to do it! Stick to the book and you can't go wrong. I've been on a pretty strict induction for the past 5 months.

Sounds like you are getting bored with the Induction foods. Pick up your DANDR 2002 and read through Chapters 12 to 14. In chapter 13 check your degree of metabolic resistance to weight loss. Read through Chapter 14. Then go back to Chapter 13 and answer the Four Questions for Moving On.

If you're not ready, I suggest answering the Four Questions weekly, because you attitudes and perspectives can change.

I have been on induction for almost 5 months, and I find that I'm getting bored and tend to nip here and there more than usual. I've been indulging in larger quantities of induction foods.

Recently, I made the decision to move to OWL and see how it goes. The worst thing that can happen is that my weight loss stalls and I go back to Induction again... I'm actually quite excited with all the foods I'll be able to enjoy, and I think that since I've felt quite comfortable with Induction, that having to learn the rules of OWL will make things new and interesting again.

You might want to spend some time reading posts in the OWL forum, just to 'talk' with those already doing it. See it it's something you want to try...

I'm starting the 22nd day of Induction.

The only thing I change is I allow cream for a treat with berries (strawberry or blueberries) occassionally and a handful of nuts here and there when I feel like I'm going to cheat. For some reason that stops a craving for sweets for me. The slight change also seems to have the effect of speeding up loss for me....but usually by the time I get this far into Induction my appetite is just about nil...so eating is a bit forced.

11 mos of being strict here. Occassionally I may exceed the salad vegetable limit but almost always below 20g carbs per day. I don't really see it as strict or regimented, but rather just easier answering the daily question what's for supper. The book allows for everyone after 14 days to add nuts back into the diet. I found out today I was missing some of the nutrition that nuts would have gave me.
