  • I'm so frustrated - please help!

So, I feel like I've been following induction rules forever. At first it was so exciting - I went from 190 to 183. Then, without reason, the next morning I was at 189, then 190, now 192!

    What the heck?!

Oh, and I keep getting dizzy. So I just don't know.

I'd really like some help - It seems like nothing's going to work.

    Hello,
Could you please post your menu. Maybe there's something there we can help you with there. Also, when is the last time you were at your doctors to get your blood drawn. There might be something in your blood chemistry that's causing dizziness like hypoglycemia ( low blood sugar) for example.
How long is forever? As far as following Induction. It may be time for you to move onto OWL, if you're at a stall.
Let us know where you are with your WOE (way of eating) and we'll do our best to get you on track.
    Sincerely, Sherri

A couple days worth of menus documenting everything you put in your mouth (food AND drink - including water consumption) and the amounts, please.

Exercise? What, how long and how often?

      Supplements? Medications? Health issues?

Another bit of info that will help others advise you would be your final goal weight.

You need to start OWL in time to lose your last 5-10 pounds on the third phase of Atkins (premaintenance).
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I can give you an estimate for now.

First, I drink a LOT of water. Meaning, I have a 1.5L bottle attached at the hip - have since high school. I guess i probably drink somewhere in the ballpark of 5 liters a day..give or take depending.

Second, a typical breakfast has just been bacon and eggs. Boring, but hey.

Third, Lunch is tuna/mayo and veggie or salad. Or, when I had a work meeting, I packed a sort of taco salad with romaine and very little tomato.

Fourth, dinner has been along these lines: steak with asparagus cooked in butter, meatballs with spaghetti squash, chicken salad.....

Snack is usually a few pieces of cheese.

Exercise: yoga once a week for an hour (a class), cardio 4-5 times a week (walk/run, elliptical, cycle), and occasional strength training.

I started at 190 and want to get to around 160, where I have been once before (as a result of the zone and LOTS of exercise).

          I just am quite discouraged.

I HAVE had bloodwork done, never anything about low blood sugar. I've had bad headaches this weekend, too, so who knows.

You might be pregnant - just plain sick. Despite your diet, you should be at the doctor if you're feeling that sick. Be careful drinking 5 l of water a day - drinking over 3.5 is incredibly hardful to you. By drinking so much water you are robbing your body of the ability to absorbe nutrients - by flushing them out of you too soon. You can also damage your kidneys by running too much water through them.

Re: I'm so frustrated - please help!

Our kidneys are equipped to handle 15 liters of water a day, so long at it's given over a steady period of time. Too much water at a time is harmful, but not because it can or will cause damage to your kidneys. It's harmful because it causes hyponatremia/hypokalemia - also known as water intoxication.

Drinking 5L of water a day is fine so long as you're keeping your sodium/potassium intake up to balance it and you're not sucking down 2L in 10 minutes. It doesn't sound like you're suffering any symptoms of hyponatremia- so I don't believe that to be an issue of any kind. It's good for you.

I would encourage you to make the weight training a regular part of your weekly routine instead of a hit and miss thing.

Your food, for the most part, looks fine. How much cheese is "a few pieces of cheese"? You're limited to 3-4 oz, you know?

My questions for you are now these: Are you taking your measurements? - And how long have you been inducting, exactly? Again, supplements you're taking? Any meds or medical conditions?
