  • Help with possible stall please

Hi all, I am looking for a bit of advice. After my 2 week induction I found that I had lost 13lb which I was over the moon about so I went on to OWL and increased my veggies and nothing. On Thursday that was two weeks on OWL and I'd lost nothing. From Thursday because I was so busy and because I was disheartened I went back to my usual induction menu which I know off by heart and therefore is less to think about (I've been working two jobs and running the home and basically chasing my tail this past week). I weighed this morning and I have lost 2lb. I'm not too happy about that even though it's a loss because it comes down to two weeks and only a 2lb loss

I was really hoping to get another 14lb off by mid April which seems an impossible task now.

I did read on one of the forums here something about post induction stall or something, could that be why I didn't lose anything but now it's over which accounts for my 2lb loss since Thursday?

The reason I am so desperate for answers is that on my last try at Atkins I gave up hope at about this point and I really need this weight off so I don't want to give up.

Re: Help with possible stall please

You'd lost much more than would be expected on induction, so a slow down was inevitable. In general people can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight they need to lose on inducution - you lost just over 25%!!! It's almost certainly a post induction thing given how much you lost then, hard to know whether going back to induction moved you on, my guess is it would have happened anyway.

Think of it this way, if you'd had a good induction instead of an absolutely amazing one, you'd have lost say 6lbs. If you'd moved on to OWL and lost 3lbs a week (which would be excellent) then you'd be down 12lbs by now.

Instead you are down 15lbs in just over 4 weeks, which is FANTASTIC!! You really do have to look at the bigger picture.

Putting dates or timetables on when you want to have lost xlbs, and then becoming disheartened when it doesn't happen, is the road to nowhere. Weight loss happens when it happens, the only thing we can control is what we eat. After that it's a matter of waiting for your body to respond.

I would say it might be useful to post a typical menu, but there is really no need. You are doing amazingly well, just keep on going.

I would move right on to OWL again though, those extra veg are really not going to make any difference.

Thank you, yes looking at the bigger picture really does make a difference.
I suppose I am looking for reassurance because I jumped off track the minute I slowed down last time.

The reason I am aiming for the mid April target is because we are going away for a long weekend and it was the target I set myself pre-atkins. Oh well I will keep plugging away

I am not working as many hours this coming week so I will have more time to organise my menus and get back to fitday.

Now can someone convince me that I really do not want that bottle of my favourite wine that my husband wants to buy me to celebrate my new job please?!
