I tested the one day cheat theory and it did not work for me. It did not kick start my stall, in fact I think it made it longer. Plus I felt horrible and bloated the next day. So not worth it!

Ok, you've all talked me out of trying to eat carbs to fool my body.

I will know in a few days if sticking to the ratio helps. I hadn't realized I'd gotten off the ratio. I do seem to have hit a wall and I suspect it is because at this point last time, I started gaining everything back. Life sucks sometimes and I'm an emotional eater.

I was wondering, can anyone tell me what 'starvation' mode feels like? I feel great, not weak or tired or anything.

I just recently started useing fit day and I think I should have started it sooner because I found out I was only eating 400- 500 calories a day, I never even noticed since I completly lost my appetite. I started feeling like cr**p I was weak and I wasen't loosing I actually put on 4 pounds. I have noticed once you start adding more of those veggies it does wonders. My starting weight was 240 and I am currently 194.

What ratio of carbs/protein/fat were you eating prior to noticing that you weren't eating the recommended amounts?

I'm just curious if you were ingesting too much fat or protein...

Re: Help! I'm stalled. Going off induction doesn't seem to help, what next?

For me I was eating way to much protein and not nearly enough fat but I also was accidentally eating much less than 1000 calories a day. I would have chicken breast and salad and because I wasn't hungry wouldn't have much else. So the problem wasn't that I was downing all the protein I could get my hands on, it was that in relation to my fat intake my protein intake was huge. So I added more food and more fat and it's done wonders! I was stuck at 203 for many weeks but after fixing my ratios and adding more food not long ago at all I'm already down to 192.5 this morning! By the way, for the first few days when I was upping my fat it was more like 75% of my food intake, I did it by accident but I think it helped in kick starting me. Now it is back down a bit!

I don't think that I've ever been in starvation mode, so can't help you there. I know that when we are in ketosis, we just aren't hungry.

Hi, another day, and half a pound more. Maybe I've broken my stall by sticking to the ratio.

I checked my past meals and my ratio of fat to protein was way off. Over 75% fat but only about an average of 20% or less for protein. Correcting the ratio seems to help.

Although I'm still eating around 900-1000 calories a day and because of the weather, not exercising. I feel terrific all day, no afternoon slump. If my BMR is 1300 then maybe 900-1000 is what it takes for me to lose, along with watching my ratio.

That BMR is not that meaningful. It is how much calories you would burn laying flat down on a bed not moving a finger. You need to take into account what moving you do (even if it is not exercise as such) and then you get the number you need to think about.

But in my view of things Atkins is not a calorie diet. I focus on getting good carbs from good sources.

I agree Liv. Though Atkins does say that calories count, in context, he was talking about eating low carbs isn't a license to pig out on calories. My carbs and calories are low but the ratio is good. My health is good. I have 20 - 25 lbs to go.

These last few are just tougher than when I weighed 192 lbs. I'm at 151.5 now. I can do this! I just hit a wall and have to figure out how to keep the loss going. I'm hoping I've found the answer since I've tweaked my ratio.

I have followed the discussion and yes I can understand that you want to get out of your pause. I know how frustrating it can be. In the few months I have done this I have stood still a few times and some times gone up. (And I am NOT a frequent weigher - I hate the scales) I think at some point age is a factor. I am in my fourthies and I sure do not lose as fast as some younger people do. But I am OK with that. I am trying to find a way where I can stay healthy and not revert to my bad habits.

I hope you figure it out and that it continue to work for you. What you do not want to do is to really get your metabolism out of whack by doing "crazy" things. We need to hang on to it.

Thanks, liv. I stuck to my ratio and am down another pound! Did I mention that while I was in my stall, my ketostix weren't pink? Now they are. The last couple days, if this keeps up will have been like the first week of ketosis!

I am now 150.5 Wahoo! I feel great and it is a milestone for me. I am past the point where I lost last time.

Thanks Chunk! But I am keeping my fingers xcrossed that this keeps up at least a little longer. I don't expect to lose a pound a day forever, but maybe for the next week?

Hi, you haven't heard about a progress or lack of progress because I've got the flu! It is going around at work and it seems I've got it now. Sore throat, nausea, the runs, fever. UGH! So we'll have to see if I've found the answer by using the ratio later.

Good luck for a week or so.
