  • This could be why the Atkins Corp is saying "induction

    Dr. Atkins DID say:

    Convenience Foods

Although it is important that you eat primarily unprocessed foods, some controlled carb food products can come in handy when you are unable to find appropriate food, can?t take time for a meal or need a quick snack. More and more companies are creating healthy food products that can be eaten during the Induction phase of Atkins.
Yet some pople on this board strike down any processed food, yet the Doctor himself said that new companies will come out with good stuff for us to eat during Atkins!! I wish he commented more on the subject.

You're missing the fine print. He offered this alternative when you're in a bind or have not planned your day properly.

A lot of that "good stuff" contains soy flour, nuts and berries, not suitable for induction, yet the packs say they are. So immediately it's a no. I'm not against frankenfoods but I think they should be clear in their labelling when it contains food not suitable for induction. And I find the menus on their site ridiculous, I think it's pointless to have low carb bread on induction. To me the WOE has been about undoing your carb cravings, not substituting them with different carbs.

I think you just have to go with what works for you. what enables you to stick to this wol and if that means that once a month you indulge and have a low carb tortilla even if you arent on the soy rung and you still are losing lbs and/or inches then your fine. I dont believe you should do it everyday But I for some people I know the only way they are able to stay is if they do indulge with some low carb product.. whether it be a low carb tortilla or eating a couple of pieces of low carb candy.(I am not talking about cheating which is having something obviosly not low carb like a chicken fried in flour batter steak) .sometimes you may not feel the urge to indulge. you may go several months without doing it. I just dont think you should beat yourself up over it. and I know some people on this board are really really really strict and thats great I wish I had will power like that but unfortunetly I dont and I am sure there are others who arent perfect at this either.but I am trying. if you would have asked me 3 months ago if I could give up pasta I would have told you no way. I havent even had a taste of pasta in over a month and I do miss it sometiems but I havent given in to my former love of pasta. .I will probably get beat for this post but honestly I think alot of people are like this.

Or you can have foods legally, by moving to OWL, where these foods are re-introduced to your diet.

you are also quoting him out of context as the part following it said you had to stick to the rules of induction when using them and so far nobody has found one that does stick to the rules of induction about what foods are and aren't allowed. There was someone who thought the morning start cinnamon bars did but they didn't exist when Dr Atkins wrote that and they have glycrine in them for a false effective carb count. if you look on their label they have 4 times the carbs they say in the little box on the front.

When I think back to all the failed attempts to lose weight, the one thing I did was CHEAT. Then the next cheat was so much easier for me to do. Then before you know I am back to eating wrong and gaining more weight.

I didn't naturally have the will power to stay cheatfree. I had to make myself do this. This is a learning process. I know that for me, if I cheat I will be off this WOE and out of control again, just like the past. I will fail again. SO.... I do not allow myself to cheat. And believe me this isn't from will power, it is from ME telling ME that I will NOT eat the trigger foods. This time I will succeed and I am doing what it takes for me to accomplish this. Cheatfree!!!!

We all do what works for us as individuals. I think it is great if you can eat a piece of bread, a tortilla, or SF candy, while on Induction, and get away with it!!??.
But for me I have to eat strict or I know the results, FAILURE!!!

I am just telling it like I have to do this WOL. I eat unprocessed foods, I never eat frankenfoods(to expensive and tastes like crap). Natural foods taste so good to me and I am feeling so good eating this way.

The best to everyone. Everyones journey is different.
