  • Feeling Cold

I've been on Atkins for 60 days, am exercising regularly and have lost 25 lbs (25 to go) and am following the plan strictly I find that I get cold more easily than before, however. I don't have thyroid problems or the flu. Is this simply a matter of less insulation?

Thanks for any input on this.

    Re: Feeling Cold

Hi Jon, when I go through a period of fast weight loss (over half a pound a day), I get extremely cold in the evening just as if I have flu. I have to wear extra clothes and a blanket when sitting on the sofa! I don't notice it during the day as I'm running after two toddlers!

Someone mentioned it could be electrolyte imbalance?

      Re: Feeling Cold

My husband has been saying he's colder now but I think it's because he's drinking so much cold water his body can't keep up.

        Re: Feeling Cold

The cold water definitely makes you feel colder. I always go cold after having a couple of glasses. I find though that drinking cold water really helps weight loss, or maintaining. It takes energy to heat the water to body temp, and that makes a surprising difference.

I don't have any input on this...but I can tell ya you're not the only one! I thought I was just wierd or something lol but I've been getting really cold too! And I'm usually not cold at all, I'm used to being warm when everyone else is cold and having windows open in the winter and the heat barely on because I'm normally always hot! I don't remember this the first time I was on Atkins....but yeah I've been freezing and when I take my temp its always 97.-something farenheit...I'm not sure if its due to less "insulation" or not because at my height and weight I still have plenty of insulation. Its a mystery to me

Thought I was going to die this winter- my husband and kids are wandering around with shorts and t-shirts, while i couldn't possibly get anymore clothes on!!!

Yep freezing here too. I have always been hot blooded so I hope it keeps me cooler in the summer.

I'm colder too. Matter of fact it was hot here over the weekend and hubby was complaining and I was comfortable.
