    Does it increase metobolism?

What are the benefits of it?

Does it keep you fuller from one meal to the next?

    Thanks.

    Re: Coconut Oil

It is the latest diet craze, isn't it? I have been reading around and some people thinks it cures absolute everything. I read somewhere that Jennifer Aniston swears by it

Don't know how much hard evidence there is to support some of these anectotal stories.
There was a study from McGill University researches published in Americal Journal of Physioglogy in 2002 that suggested that there MAY be some befiits to Medium-Chain Triglycerides (which is in vigin coconut oil). But still no definite conclusion.
You can read the study here

It is one of the oils I use, yes. Cannot say I have noticed any remarkable effects from it (and I do have a sluggish Thyroid).
I try to use exercise to increase my metabolism.

        Do you use it Mary?

My aunt is a nutritionist and swears by it. She even puts it on her face. And I do have to say that her skin is alot smoother as of late. I actually just bought some. I am going to cook my chicken tenders in it tonight. I look at it this way...what can it hurt?

Let us know if you start using it and get some good results from it. I am going to start looking for it next time I go grocery shopping. Can you find it anywhere or you have to go to a health food store to get it?

LaRie~ I have never seen it in a grocery store. My aunt and I always get it online. But I am sure you can get it at a health food store. Good luck.

                Re: Coconut Oil

I've been using it for about a year. I don't notice any thing from it. I use it cause I like the taste. Chicken is wonderful fried in it. So is veggies. cauliflower fried in coconut oil is great. I also put it on my face. I can't really say I've noticed much of a difference there either but I like the way it feels. I get mine at Walmart. It's right next to the vitamins.

I have not used yet. I would like to buy some. I would be ordering online because our grocery stores here in Canada do not carry them. I doube WalMart carries things like this.

That's interesting. I need to pick up some more oil anyhow, running low. I may as well try the coconut meslf. Sounds tasty. I'd be nice if it helped the metabolism as well too. God Bless, Joe

I'm in Toronto and it's at the grocery stores here, it's in the Health food section of Loblaws. I've also seen it in several health food stores. Whatever city/town you are in , if you grocery section doesn't have a health food part, then try your health food store.

For skin grade coconut oil, I've seen 'suresh' brand in all the grocery stores, it's in the oil section of all the stores I shop in. It's not virgin organic, but it is non-hyrogenated, it comes in a glass jar and is cheap at 2.99. I wouldnt waste the expensive organic on your skin (it's really pricey).

Personally I just cooki with it occaisionally, i don't believe the weight loss hype but find it's a nice oil to cook with.

Thanks for the info, Sadie. I see you are from Toronto to. I usually go to Loblaws quite a bit, and to their health section, but don't know how I missed their coconut oil. I now have an order coming from BC.
