  • Depressed and frustrated :(

OK so the other day Im not sure why but I was wanting some thing sweet so I decided to have some cool whip. I checked my ketoses (pee strips) and it was light I was nearly OUT of it.. I was shocked that coolwhip did that, anyway I got on the scales and I was up 3 lbs from having coolwhip on Friday. WTH? how did that happen? Ive been working really hard at staying on track and working out and this is what happens. Grrrr Im so mad at myself and been in a funk all day.

Why am I at this wall I cant seem to get past. I always lose a bit of weight then go up and down on the scales then go down a bit more but then will be up and down again. Its so annoying I dont know what to do? Anyway else go through this?

    Re: Depressed and frustrated

Keep in mind that Cool Whip is loaded with sugar in the form of corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. You could have easily knocked yourself out of ketosis with it depending on how much you had. Even a little bit is too much. If you really need a whipped topping make it with real whipped cream. There is a SF version of Cool Whip, but the Sugar Free Cool Whip has corn syrup in it as well.

Best you can do is not worry about it and stay the course and you'll recover from the little slip up. If you're having trouble with fluctuating weight you may want to reassess all the foods you're eating by checking the nutritional labels and the ingredients list. If they contain illegal ingredients like the Cool Whip, this could very well be your problem.

      Hang in there.

Try to just weigh once a week under the same conditions. Weighing every day, can be frustrating and not an accurate indicator of what's going on.

      1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works

3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.

Thanks guys for your input I think your both right and I feel much better today about things. I think I might be losing more inches then lbs anyway as my clothes are getting bigger on me. I also have been having the EAS low carb shakes for breakfast and think that might be an issue too so will cut them out too and re look at all my foods Im eating.

Thanks again this board is the best =)

          Re: Depressed and frustrated

I'm in the same boat as you. I know my losing pattern in the past, and I just go down. With this WOE I go down then I go up for 3 or 4 days, then I drop again below the first number so at the end of the week I'm down, not much but at least down. I was letting myself get really frustrated and then I had a talk with myself and realized where could I eat this much food, not be hungry, and still lose weight. No where but on this WOE. The slower it comes off the more time we have to establish a new pattern of eating. Keep your chin up avery little bit of loss counts. Blue has it right, if you can stay off the scale you'll be a lot happier.

LandOLakes also makes a sugar free canned whipped cream that is wonderful. I like making my own whipped cream, and adding a teaspoon of powdered dutch chocolate to it. (It's a richer taste than regular cocoa). A couple of tablespoons is enough to give me my 'fix'

              Re: Depressed and frustrated

WOW thanks glad to see Im not the only one struggling with this up and down issue. I dont weigh myself very day but its to much. When I was on Atkins before in 2002 I didnt weigh myself in 2 years I didnt even own a pair of scales. I went by my clothes only and I went from a size 24 to a size 10 so I knew I had lost allot of weight.

This time Im on a crunch to lose as I am riding horses again and need to compete soon to reach my goals and I cant compete with this extra weight on. So that alone keeps me driven. Thanks again every one
