  • No Energy is it forever?

I did induction in March and then had a few binges so restarted induction 2.5
weeks. Have been cheat free since restarting and eating very fresh foods.
Have lost a few pounds since restarting induction. Since starting Atkins for the first time in March I only had like 1 day(maybe) where I had energy.
I feel so dead tired. I get enough sleep and eat 3 meals, 2 snacks, eat like 2000 calories, eat about 65% fat, 30%protien, take supplements but feel exhausted.
I want to know if this is forever. Eventually can I get my energy levels back?

    Hello Sungju,
It may not be what you're eating or taking in supplements. When is the last time you seen a doctor to get your lab work done? You may be difficient in vitamin D or your thyroid levels may be low. Something to concider. If I were you, I'd see a doctor and get some blood work done.

Also look at what you are eating. I have food allergies and if I eat avocados I will be like that; I know I can't have them often if at all. But lack of energy isn't normal past the first few days so I would see a doctor.

Maybe you should move up the rungs - you (if I remember correctly) did not have much to lose - you wanted some toning - and you train so hard. You may be needing more carbs. Try it! May prevent you from binging and keep you on track.

Yes... maybe you need more carbs. Why not make the move to OWL? You can stay on the first rung for quite a while if you like and that way get more carbs in from veggies.

Yeah, why didn't I think about. Oh my! As I increase my carbs I will likely get my energy back. I dropped a pound over the weekend so I think perhaps I am in Ketosis.
I think I was training hard now that spring has come. I will eat 5 more grams of veggies every week until I feel ready to move to the next rung. I love veggies.
Going to the doctor is a great idea just in case!
            Thanks so much everyone!!!

This happened to me too and when I moved up a rung, the energy came back.

Re: No Energy is it forever?

I am very hopful now. Having the same energy as before starting Atkins would be wonderful but if I had even more that would be a bonus. When I think of all the junk food I used to eat everynight and now starting again eating very fresh foods maybe that will happen to me!
I think it has to do with running. I think maybe you burn alot running so likely I need those carbs!
Increasing 5 grams per week is okay and staying on the first rung for a while is okay, right?? as long as I keep losing, right?
My mom is coming to Korea for the first time in 2.5 weeks so I really want to increase my carbs!

Re: No Energy is it forever?

I found this on the internet. It kind of freaks me out. I have been having muscle cramps and I am not the only one. I also feel weak. My doctor in Korea refuses to give me Potassium supplements. It just doesn't sound healthy that you lose critical electrolytes! I am thinking it can't be good for my running and weight training.
                    What do you think?

The presence of muscle cramps, Atkins explained, "means you are losing too many electrolytes." Along with the ketones, one's kidneys may also flush out critical electrolytes like calcium, magnesium and potassium, which may result in muscle cramps or worse.[191]

Atkins realized this potential danger and recommended his followers take potassium supplements. In fact, some people lose so much potassium they may need professional help. According to Atkins himself, sales of potassium supplements "of anywhere near the proper amount of potassium you may need are illegal over the counter; therefore you may need a doctor to write you the proper prescription."[192] Even Barry Sears, the author of the flawed[193] Zone Diet, recognizes the danger the Atkins Diet might present: "Any meal that you have to take potassium supplements, there's something wrong with that."[194]

That is written by one of those internet Atkins bashers - there are tons of them out there. Most of them are vegetarians. It is not what you should base your opinions on.

Just eat more veggies. Take your multi vitamin - multi mineral tabs and relax. And follow your doctor's advice.
I hope you are finding back your energy soon.

It could have some truth though. I mean it seems as if my diet is supplying me with a good amount of potassium and I am taking my supplements. I don't want to talk negative about the diet. Really sorry, just a little worried.
I think my first step is to get some lab work done at the doctors.
