  • Should I go by the overall number for the day on fiday, or do each meal individually?

When I measure out my daily food on fitday I get the correct ratio I am supposed to get( 65/30/5). But when I do my meals individually they do not equal out to this ratio.

This is my meals all day long today:
    http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=tara5578

My breakfast ratio is: 71/26/3%(eggs, bacon, cheese, broccili with caesar dressing)

My Lunch ratio is 59/36/5%(chix,mayo,mixed greens, cheese, egg, jicama)

My Dinner ratio is 81/16/3%!!!(ground beef, avocado, mayo, asparagus, oil, butter, cheese. Dessert heavy cream with almond oil and splenda)

    I then have a late snack/dinner of 5 oz chicken with 1 T mayo.

Should I be looking at the numbers seperately like this or all in one day?
    Weight: 180
    Age: 29
    Height: 5'8
    Goal: 130-140 whatever feels best!
I Drink at least 64 fl oz a day!!

Ok, from my understanding your on extended induction. I looked at your meal plan and it says you have 32 carbs, in a normal induction you should only have 20. I'm wondering if you upped the carbs because your in the extended version. If not you should try to get your carb count back down to 20 and getting them mostly from veggies(2 cups salad/ 1 cup other or 3 cups salad veggies) Also saw that brie was on your meal list, in induction we are not supposed to have soft cheeses like brie, ricotta, etc. To answer your question i would go by your overall daily percentages, as everyday you should come out close to the 65%/30%/5% ratio. I hope this helps! Good Luck!

She had 14 grams of fiber, and we are going by net carbs. Net carbs = total carbs - fiber. So, she actually only had 18 net carbs.

You're right about the brie, though... not allowed until Rung 2.

Tara, about percentages - while in a perfect world that would be an AWESOME thing to be able to pull off, I am rarely (if ever!) able to get the percentages correct at each meal. I have come across a few members who are able to, and I applaud them. But I have always just gone by the totals for the day.

Tara! It has just come to my attention that brie is an aged cheese, and is allowed during Induction!! Woo hoo!

        Sorry about the confusion.

        Enjoy!

Phew! Glad you came back on that Mitzi. I thought I'd messed up my induction for a minute there...though seeing as it was two and a half years ago, maybe it doesn't matter! Ate brie all the time.

            Yeah, Sally - my bad!

I guess it's no surprise that I have never even seen brie in my life! And I loaned my book to someone about 2 months ago for them to look over, to see if they wanted to pursue Atkins further... I haven't see her or my book since the day I handed it over to her.

DANDRs are precious! Maybe Mitzi, when you finally do see her, she'll be half the size she was before! But... if that's the case, I bet she won't give you your book back!!

Here's another thing. I notice when you enter ground beef you are entering it raw. That calorie and fat percentage includes all the beef tallow (fat). Unless you are eating all the cooked tallow as well, your percentage of protein is much higher and fat lower and the calories are too high in your fitday.

Too much protein will keep your from losing weight.

Wow! I did not know that! You really do have to get it down to a science. Thanks Joy!!

I researched online and found that 1 pound of raw ground beef equals out to 2/3 cooked. That is 16 oz(1 pound) equates to 4 3oz patties cooked for anyone who needs help applying to fitday. I know I did!! It made a HUGE difference on my protien and fat so I had to adjust everything

No problem It has been complicated trying to convert everything! I am still stuck on ounces though. If anyone can explain to me the difference between the how to measure fluid ounces vs. ounces I would appreciate it!!

I am getting the fl oz mixed up with regular ounces. For instance, 2 T of shredded mozz chz ends up as 1/4 cup. But if I was measuring cream for instance it would be completely different. When I am using tools online I can mostly only convert to fl oz which does not seem that it would be correct. Is this making any sense?

Re: Should I go by the overall number for the day on fiday, or do each meal individua

There are 2 tablespoons in one fluid ounce, and 16 in one cup which is 8 fluid ounces.

Weight ounces are a completely different thing and bear no relation at all to fluid ounces or tablespoons

If you need to know how much weight ounces in a cup of anything you need to go to the USDA database where they list the weight in grams of each cup of most foods and find the grams then convert them into weight ounces.

For the induction vegetables, Soliwit worked out a list of how heavy one cup and parts of a cup are which is one of the sticky threads at the top of the 14-day induction forum
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

There are options in fitday for cooked or raw ground beef. Do a search in Fitday for "Ground beef cooked"

There is an option for lean or for regular. then you can enter the ounces of cooked meat vs the raw meat.
