It hasn't thrown me out of ketosis, but I only have some once in while when i really need something different than water for a change. i actually went out and got a big box of herbal fruit teas so i can get away from diet pop and crystal light. i don't really want to be taking in any aspartame at all. i don't think i've been stalled due to it, but don't want to find out the hard way. it was bad enough to stall for a week due my TOM.
Personally, I drink ALOT of diet pop and it doesn't adversely affect me at all. It stalls some people, but I seriously doubt that it throws a person out of ketosis.

Piasabird - do you really mean a LOT of diet drinks?
how many servings of sweetener are you having each day?

Pop is insidious thing. Not only are not drinking your water and not likely to drink as much for the day, it also contains caffiene which can do whacky things to your glucose levels and cause cravings. Giving up my 4l per day Diet Dew habit was one of the best things I did on this WOE. One diet coke won't throw you off, but making a habit of it, I might have other concerns. This is the same reason I also don't have mock danishes each day.

To answer your question, I am probably having way too much. Maybe like two 20 ounce bottles per day or more. I don't drink as many as I use to since I've started drinking more water. But I love diet vanila coke and as long as I do well with my weight loss, I don't see a reason to deprive myself.
I too can't put the Soda down.... I drink about 3 12oz cans a day.. sometimes more, never less... My fiance drinks a 12 pack a day... at least its not beer... :confused So anyhow, I know where you are comming from.
Try the Diet Rite cola. After a few glasses, I preferred over diet coke. It's made with Splenda. I have a glass a couple times a week when I get sick of water. It's also sodium free, but I don't know if it is caffiene free.
Coca-Cola is going to introduce diet coke made with Splenda in a few months. Then it will be as legal as Diet Rite. However, your Splenda allowance for a day is still only 3, so you need to limit how many you drink and also make sure you do not drink them in place of your water.
Personally I love Diet Rite Strawberry Kiwi and White Grape. If you haven't tried them, please do so. They are great.

I have found that a diet coke here and there is ok as long as im not having it with a meal. The caffeine and nutra sweet can spike insulin and cause your body to store your dietary fats. I find the same with coffee. If I have a cup of joe by itself within hours of eating i am fine. But if i eat to close to drinking the java my brain tells me something isnt right. As far as the soda i have come to aquire a taste for diet rite as well as hansen drinks. But still and all limit yourself. I find my best way of getting through any stall or getting through one of those "something isnt right I feel sluggish" periods is to guzzle lots of water through out the day. It is a no brainer that always works for me. When you realize the benefits of water and get positive feedback from drinking it you will come to aquire a desire for water.
