  • Sugars in Vegetables - Hopefully stupid question

When I began induction back in January I had tons of veggies (frozen and canned) in my fridge and cupboards. There were never any sugars in them - label always said zero.
An example : Canned Green/String Beans - 4 carbs, 2 fiber, 0 sugar per serving.
Well, I ran out and had to go to the store yesterday to restock.
Suddenly all the foods I looked at in the store, frozen or canned, had at least 2 sugars in them.
I double checked DANDR - yep, says no sugar. So what gives?
What on earth can I eat? Even the bags of salad now say they have sugar in them.
Maybe I am misunderstanding something? Are these natural sugars that I CAN have? I never paid attention before bc all my labels said zero.
I think I'm going nuts. I don't know. Lord help me! lol

    Advice needed! help! Thanks

relax you are looking in the wrong place for added sugars all veggies have sugar naturally occurring in them that is what youa re seeing in the FDA Nutritional label on the package, How many of the total carbs are in the form if sugar.
What you are supposed to be doing is looking for added sugars in the ingredients list and avoiding them. Sugar can come in many different forms so check the stickie in here for the things that are hidden sugars in your foods like words ending in ose

Phew! I feel like such an idiot. I always look in the ingreditents section to make sure it's not there, but the list on nutrition info totally freaked me out. Thank you for your help!
