I have tried doing a clean induction, but just can't seem to grasp no sweets. I am having a horrible time saying no to some of the "frankenfoods" that are available. As a full-time mom who also works part-time and goes to school part-time, these foods are eaten basically out of sheer convienence. I know that they are frowned upon here, but basically I am wondering if there are others out there who have the same problem saying no as I do. I maybe will have an Atkins shake or a low-carb bar or sugar-free candy, and try to stay away from sugar alcohols. I have completely changes my woe from before, but just can't seem to give up a little chocolate or sweet treats. Any advice, and can others relate? Thanks.

If it were me, I would force myself to do a clean induction. I did that and am still doing it. In the first few days you just have to be firm with yourself and say no, and no means NO. By the end of the first week you could probably sit in the same room as a jar of sweets and not really think twice.
In my opinion, it was being strict from the start that sorted my eating out. If you're lax from the start you will be lax the entire time or worse, you will end up cheating, then binging then off the WOE completely.
Sorry I don't have a more favourable answer but trust me, clean inductions work!
As for convenience food. I boil 15 eggs every Sunday night and they are my convenience food along with chilled chicken breast. There is so much food you can take with you so you don't need to buy a bar or shake, just look at the list, and I'm sure others will have suggestions

Thanks, I needed the encouragement. I have always had a terrible sweet tooth. I used to eat pasta almost every day, and I don't miss that at all. But without my sweet treats, I am dying. Someone else suggested the mock danish, and that was pretty good. I will just have to be strict with myself, and think of the rewards.F 30 5'2

it really does suck giving up the chocolate completely but trust me if you don't you won't get the chance to see what this WOE can really do for you...every time you crave something sweet try eating a pickle ..kills my sweet tooth immediately...always have an induction friendly snack handy and as always drink lots of water...I read posts or do something crafty like knitting to distract myself until the craving lessens...good luck.32yr old Female

hulagirl,
I love the trick by eating the pickle, I will most certainly try that. I really don't mind this woe at all, in fact i embrace it, except for the sweets thing. But, I am determined and I will nip that bad habit right away!F 30 5'2

there are sugar alcohols in all those things you listed as the sweetener. ANA chooses to post a net effective carb count or the new Atkins carbcount with say 2 in it instead of listing the glyceine and the ssugar alcohols in the nutritional list if you look in the ingredients lists you will see they are there.
You can make your own portable foods to take while on the run. Just remember it was that horrible sweet thooth that got you in your weight predicament to begin with. If you restrain from eating the sweets during your induction you will find your "sweet tooth" dies off and you can be very satisfied by the sweetness of veggies and fruits.

I also used to eat a lot of pasta and would hardly ever it sweets. In the first few days of induction I was craving sweets like mad and I was thinking to myself that I must be crazy because I don't even like them really. Just keep it up and you'll wonder why things like that ever crept into your head
I didn't do exercise for the first two to three weeks. Now I make myself get up extra early every weekday and sometimes even do exercise at the weekend. If you had told me that before Christmas I would have laughed at you :yes
Just wait, you'll want to get that exercise buzz too and then everything will fall into place while your weight melts away - and without feeling you're missing out :joy
