  • 18th Day in and sugar Craving!!

    Hi there everyone!
    I have done the 14 Day Induction:all went well,lost 6.5lbs.
    Now i have decided to do the Extended Induction just for the 14 days, then moving onto OWL.

    The last few days i have experienced Sugar Cravings, i was making Mock Cheesecake and Meringues,i overdone it as my weight is not shifting so i am cutting it out all together!

    I am not taking de caff Tea or Coffee which i was taking with Double Cream;sure this slowed down weight loss, hoping to see a diffrence now, although i understand i can still lose quite a bit on OWL.

    Can anyone suggest what i could to with the Sugar Cravings?
    Also, i like something hot to drink but not tea or coffee cos i am cutting it out, can anybody suggest a Low Fat alternative please!

    It is weird cos i thought i would get a craving for Bread or Potatoes as i liked them best, why Sugar!!!

    Anyway,any help with be greatfully be appreciated.

    Hi Danielle,

    Well done on getting through induction and for losing 6.5lbs

    I'd say the best way to deal with sugar cravings is to sit them out - try not eat anything with a sweet taste. That way you will get used to not eating sweet things and then this WOL will be much easier. Though lots of people around here use splenda - it can cause problems in setting up further cravings. Each to their own, of course, but worth thinking about.

    Also check the foods you have been eating very carefully for hidden sugars which may be causing cravings after 18 days. Ham and other processed meats in particular need careful checking.

      Thank you for that, i will check out the foods i am eating...you are right i need just sit it out, keep myself busy. Forget sweet stuff altogether.

        Hi danielle, yes i agree looking closer to the foods you have been eating might help you find whats bringing on the sugar cravings. Ive found that completely cutting out all sugar and/or splenda products even for a few weeks helps reset taste buds. Now, everything tastes a little sweet to me. And when i do have a splenda by product its super sweet. I think cutting out the coffee and tea with cream is a good game plan but if you like something warm to drink, caffeine tea should be good and from my understanding its only tea with caffeine that is suppose to effect blood sugar and weight lose. Your still doing a great job, keep up the good work!!!

          I meant caffeine-FREE tea of course.( organic green tea is one of my favorites )

            HI Danielle
            We started around the same time in our induction. Glad to hear that you are doing well. I crave sweets too and I have made the mock cheesecake and love it. I've done pretty well with losing but something that I do daily is exercise an hour....I don't miss a day and I never exercise less than a hour. I always exercise after I have my afternoon/evening meal that provides me with alot of energy. Have you been exercising?

            I have loss 12 pounds, and have decided to stay in induction for another week or so. I would love to be 85% done with my weight loss by the first week of June. I have 13 pounds to go...so another 8 or 9 pounds is what I want to lose in the next 4 weeks.

            I have learned not to weigh myself daily, when I think I should have loss, no movement and when I think I have no movement, I then am down 3 pounds. I do know that clothes that I couldn't wear for 2 years, fit now....

            Hang in there and know you are not alone when it somes to craving sweets...I do too.

              Well thats good that someone is in the same way as me!
              I am not as lucky as you to have lost that much weight already although i am very happy with 6.5lbs.
              I work in an office so not much excersise there, soon as i get home at 3pm, i a very active with my 2 children,we go walking weekends also.
              I have 15lbs to go so i shouln't realy be in a rush to take it off fast, better slow i understand.
              Anyway i am doing clean extended induction,counting every carb...i won't weigh myself til the end of extended induction though.

                Today is day 14 of Induction for me and I have lost all sugar cravings. I have to say though, in the past when I eat "sugar free" with all that fake garbage my cravings come back with a vengence. Good for you cutting it out completely. I think fake sugar does more harm than good.

                Early on I made sure I ate enough fat and would drink black decaf coffee to nix cravings. I know you don't want to drink coffee but drinking it strong and decaf (especially if you don't care for it) will completely turn your stomach off to any food. It's a great anti-craving technique for me.

                  Good Morning Danni
                  Congratulations on your lost pounds forever. Also, for giving up sweetners. I have been sweet-free for 102 days. I don't have sweet cravings ever!!!!
                  If you are still struggling with sweet cravings buy some L-Glutamine and take it. You're allowed 3000 MG a day. It Works!
                  Begin with a 200 mg capsule or tablet three times a day for a week. Then increase your dose to two capsuls or tablets three times a day for a week. If you feel more alert and energetic, and have lost your cravings for sweets, you can adjust the amount of L-Glutamine you take untill you find the best level for you.
                  Alexa is right. Be careful of hidden sugars. Manufactures like to sneak in HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup). I found it in my horseradish.
                  I only drink decaffeinated herbal teas and water.
