  • I ate a piece of cookie with frosting the size of my pinky fingernail...what now?

This may seem like a stupid question but at work today we had a buffet of sweets and I was going crazy. I have been on the atkins for a month and a half now and have only lost 3 pounds and I think that is only water weight. I don't see a difference in my clothes. Anyways, I have been very frustrated and ate a choc. chip piece of cookie with a spec of frosting the size of my pinky nail(my hand are med. size). I promise that is no lie.

I would like to know if this will throw me out of ketosis or hinder me from losing weight(even though I am not anyways).

I have had multiple people look at my fitday and I am doing everything correct 65/30/5. So I am just plugging away hoping things will change. I have even upped my water to over 100 fl oz a day.

    Enough of me venting, sorry!!

I know I should not have eaten the small piece but one thing I have going for me 99% of the time is willpower. Will this bite keep me from my goals?

    Thanks Guys!!!

No-one will be able to say if this will affect your body - it depends on your individual CCLL as to whether you will have been thrown out of ketosis.

But if you keep on plan you will do the least 'damage', so dont give in to the 'well I might as well eat (insert carby favourite here) as I have blwn it' thoughts that we often get after a slip.

Maybe it is time to shock your body by starting up the OWL ladder and adding 5 net carbs of your induction veggies?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

get back on atkins with your next bite, your next glass of water, your next workout.
No one is perfect forever. Its important to realize its a way of life not a crash diet.

Are you kidding? Congratulate yourself! the old you probably would have eaten the plate of cookies, right,,,Stop beating yourself up! You need to go look in the mirror and say - I am worth the effort!- It may be slow, but I am doing this. If you slowed anything down it may only be for half day or so. Just go drink some water to flush it out. hehe.

          Thanks guys

I really appreciate all your help. I will consider moving up with more net carbs of veggies but I am afraid too. I am afraid if I add on more carbs I will never lose and being that I have barely lost weight in over a month I don't want to make it harder on myself.

If nothing happens in the by next week I think I will take your advice. I love veggies so I would be happy to add on more!!!

As one of our members used to say - none of us got fat by eating our induction-legal veggies!!

I don't think it will knock you out of ketosis. However, I agree with Elizellen about moving to OWL. I've been so much happier since leaving extended induction and moving onto OWL. I've been able to have more veggies and this week I'll be moving to the dairy rung. Can you say cottage cheese?!?!? WOO HOO! I find that exciting

If you're craving more variety...I think that's a clue to move along to OWL. C'mon and join me there!

I agree with everyone else about just sticking with it. Most of us have either had something similiar happen whether on pupose or not.

I think the more important frustration is lack of weightloss in you stated timeframe. The only thing I saw missing from your program is exercise. I think I'm becoming a fanatic lol, but I can't believe the results I'm seeing when I combine this diet with the exercise.
