  • Heavy cream or light?

I know it's suggested that we use heavy cream... now just so I understand, heavy cream is also "heavy whipping cream" yes? cus that's what I've been buying cus that's all the stores have. Anyhow, it's too darn expensive ($4.17USD for a pint). I did however find light cream, which was $1.79 for a pint, much better. I bought it, but haven't opened it.
    Looking for advice.
The only difference between the two is the fat content. Carbs are the same, so is this alright?

Heavy whipping cream is the recommended. It's much cheaper at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club.

The difference between light and heavy cream is mainly the fat content. I can't remember the exact percentages, but heavy cream has something like 36% fat, light cream has something like 30%. Since Atkins is a high fat diet, heavy cream is more desirable. Also if you want to whip your cream, heavy cream will whip better.

I looked at both last night - they are both made from skim milk.
