Does anyone still experience TOM cravings while in extended induction? I have been in extended induction for a month and have had no appetite what so ever. Normally I have to remind myself to eat. Anyway, the last few days I just can't stop eating. I'm still staying with "safe" foods but I am ravenous! I think my TOM is coming and am surprised that I am possibly experiencing cravings. I just assumed they wouldn't surface. I'm also worried that maybe I fell out of ketosis and that's why I can't stop eating. I don't normally experience the "metal mouth" taste of ketosis due to allergy medications so I can't use that as an indicator. Has anyone else experienced this ??

Re: Ketosis & TOM??
As Irishmom said it is perfectly normal to have cravings around that time of the month - just make sure all you eat is 'legal' and you should be able to ride it out.
I notice you are still on induction - have you thought about moving to OWL?
Remember that Dr Atkins expected us to move to the third phase of Atkins (premaintenance) when we have between 5-10 pounds to lose, so make sure you give yourself the time to conduct the great OWL scientific experiment to discover any foods that affect you and find your CCLL while you are still losing weight and not too close to your goal!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Ketosis & TOM??
I read somewhere that before and or during TOM, our bodies require up to 1000 extra calories a day! It was in some magazine at the doctor's office I think? Has anyone else heard this?32-Female-5'7"

Re: Ketosis & TOM??
I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I'm ravenous all through TOM....it drives me nuts......I conctantly have to eat to keep the tummy growls away!!!! Its very irritating not to mention inconvenient.....keeping myslef surrounded with snacks 24/7. As soon as I'm off it - all returns to normal. I would absolutely LOVE it if someone found that article about calories during TOM, I''m going to go hunt it down now!!!!

Re: Ketosis & TOM??
I've been on Atkins on-and-off for 5+ years. Some bouts successful, some not.
What I do know, is that when I've been on it before, I am rarely hungry, I have a ton of energy and I feel good.
This time around however..
I went on depo provera in early march, and started Atkins in early April. Starting about March 25th it became my TOM...my TOM hasn't left since. I guess this is an unfortunate side effect that some women get with depo. (if anyone is considering it, DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!...read all the internet articles)...anyway..it sucks.
My weight is constantly fluctuating...I'm hungry ALL the time, and I get stomach aches several times daily!
Before it was always obvious if it was going to be my TOM, I'd gain a couple pounds and be bloated for a week, then it would go away.
Now im on a roller coaster of bloat and cramps all day everyday.
