  • Road warrior/foodie/40 looking for atkins buddies

Hey all - I am on the road about 4 days a week. I eat out at least 8 meals a week and it is part of my job to entertain clients - so great food and wine are on the agenda. I have been working out with a personal trainer once a week (mma and boxing) and spinning at least 2 additional days. I have been on atkins for about six weeks - feeling good - and shrinking. I am looking for some atkins buddies with a similar lifestyle to share the ups and downs of the journey and motivate each other.
I am turning 40 years old November 1st and am looking for some serious improvement before I go to Paris!

    Measurements Progress:

Your lower abdomen has decreased by 7.5 in.
Your buttocks/hips have decreased by 7 in.
Your chest has decreased by 10 in.
    Your height has not changed.
Your neck has decreased by 1 in.
Your rightbicep has decreased by 2 in.
Your rightCalf has decreased by 2.5 in.
Your rightforearm has decreased by 1 in.
Your right thigh has decreased by 4 in.
Your waist has decreased by 6 in.
Your right wrist has not changed.

Well that's easy. I will buddy with you. I used to be on the road a lot - and did atkins successfully...I have more trouble at home now.

Supper at a nice restaurant...When you are in those "nice restaurants" - they love to show their stuff when you give them a food challenge...tell them that you are eating very carefully due to some suspected allergens and then tell them to skip the....flour, sugar, gravy, fruit...etc. Have a big steak with brocolli on the side and eat like a king.
-----dessert - ooooh. that is harder.....if you find a good restaurant - ask for a cafe au lait with real cream - and ask them to add some vanilla flavoring or something....or ask the chef to prepare you some kind of sugar free custard...or flan or something....I would think that a sugar free flan or creme brulee (without the scortched sugar)

    Lunch in a meeting -
My best ploy to explain to clients that I am in meetings with is that I have a food allergy and cannot have bread.....then whoever is ordering lunch will usually take care of it.

    Drinking----
Order a Vodka Soda - and then have them keep topping it off with soda....
....or ask them to make a mojito - but skip the sugar and the rum...you end up with a glass full of mint and soda and lime juice.
...of course - plan your allotments - If you know you want the dessert, make sure that you do not use your allotment for cream and such for the day.

....Keep things around for good snacks and in betweens.....the Atkins shake is great. ....meat sticks or jerky....watch the carb content....skip anything with MSG.

...and as for induction....it is harder to get by while traveling on induction....but use it as an excuse to order steak after steak after steak....the good ones - not the cheap ones.
