  • I just can't get my head around what I am supposed to eat!

Hi, I have been on Induction for 20 days and lost 6 pounds the first week and then never lost a thing since then - I realise now that I have been doing things slightly wrong (I drank a glass of wine nearly 3 x per week) and wasn't really measuring my vegetables - I would just make a salad for lunch and toss in what I wanted. I ate some of Linda's Clouds (which were heaven). Anyway, for the past 7 days I have been following Linda's induction menus to the T and still have not lost a thing (although I have been having lovely meals so can't complain). What I have suddenly realised after re-reading DANDR is that, for example, aren't quiches way too loaded with cream and cheese for the amounts we are allowed in induction?

Can I also ask what you eat for breakfast? I can only eat eggs either in a quiche or hard boiled - I cannot eat them any other way (psychological thing, don't ask LOL). If quiches are out, then what do other people eat for breakfast?

Thanks from someone who is a bit confused about exactly what I can eat other than a chunk of meat with a salad or a chunk of meat with a side of veggies or salad.

I usually have 2 eggs and some meat. Quiche generally makes me gag. I have some serious egg weirdness. They ahve to be cooked "just right" for me or I won't touch them. It's gotten so even my FIL will get a seperate pan out for me when we come to visit .

What about an Omlet? It has the texture of quiche, no crust and you can fill it with all kinds of things? Or there are lots of crustless quiches out there. Find one with a little less cream or eat lss.

Quiche is loaded with cream and cheese. You are correct. I did/do eat quiche on occasion, but I eat *a* slice. If you're going to eat it, you must exercise some serious portion control.

You don't ever have to eat an egg if you don't want to. One of my most favorite breakfasts is taco salad. You really can have dinner left-overs for breakfast. I do it all the time. This morning when I get back from my workout and it's time to eat, I'll likely have left over chicken/zucchini/yellow squash/tomato/onion kabobs. Just because it's morning doesn't mean it's egg time.

Do a search here and on google for induction breakfast ideas. Like I said, there's no reason to eat an egg ever if you don't want to.

Re: I just can't get my head around what I am supposed to eat!

I have found that a lot of recipes on Linda's site and elsewhere are typically created to serve 4-6. If you are like me, you tend to eat more than what is considered one serving which leads to too many carbs. I have learned as a result, that if I choose to make one of the yummy recipes from those sites, I need to make it when I'm not hungry, divide the item into the appropriate number of servings and freeze them. Only then can I eat my one serving and know that I am staying within a reasonable tolerance for carbs. (I also write down the net carb amount on each frozen package so I can make intelligent choices later in the week.)

I also have found that keeping track of what I eat has been a huge help in knowing when I am clsoing in on my daily carb limit. I highly encourage daily tracking, at least until you learn where the carbs are hiding.

Thank you for the great ideas - I don't know why I never thought of "dinner" stuff for breakfast! I agree about the portion control - the recipes for 6 always seem to last for 4 LOL. I wish I could eat omlettes but I too have a serious egg wierdness Momma2three girls. I can eat quiche no problem and hard boiled eggs but any other egg style I just can't put into my mouth. Very strange as I love to cook them for others and love the smell but can't eat them myself! I think I will start keeping track - I have the feeling just a bit more lettuce and cucumber than what I was supposed to have it letting me down. Still, I feel great on this WOE and won't ever go back - trying not to get frustrated - I know many people stall just after the first 2 weeks. I am now at the weight I was for many months and I think my body remembers this and wants to stay here! How wrong it is!

Just make your quiche with less cream and cheese! I mix water and cream together to make milk, then add that and just use cheese on the tops of mine...that way there sin't so much!

                  I'm with Brook,
I love eating leftovers for breakfast!
Have you tried the Revolution Roll or Oopsie Roll recipes yet? You can use them as buns and put a breakfast sausage (check the label for sugars and nitrates!) and some cheddar cheese in between and voila, a breakfast sandwich.

I really think you should try www.fitday.com. It will keep track of your fat/protein/carb ratios and your total carbs for the day. You want to stay around 65% fat, 30%protein/5% carbs for each day. Good luck!
Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.

Make your quiche so it's legal ............. I use eggs and meats like bacon ham ect .......... very little cheese and no milk ........ I bake them in Muffin tins so each one is a perfect serving. If I need two thats fine too I just adjust my carbs if they are veggie ones.

Here is a great recipe for egg muffins. They are delicious and really easy to just grab and go in the morning. You can even freeze them. Its a South Beach recipe but all you need to do to make it Atkins friendly is to use full fat cheese instead of lowfat.
