  • Ok - I am stalled

    Annoying.

I am eating two eggs for breakfast....

Lunch is usually a beef patty and a bunch of brocolli - with olive oil poured over it.

Supper is usually meat with oil poured on it with some veggies with some cheese

snacks are usually - no more than 3 oz of cheese or an atkins shake....

I have laid off of the heavy cream and cream cheese

I figured that I might not have enough fat - so I am now using at least two or three teaspoons of coconut oil...straight out of the teaspoon.

HELP!!!! What am I doing wrong....

I have been totally legal except for one day about two weeks ago...

    Hello-
Congrats on your success. On your stuck-ness, that usually happens. What exercising are you doing? Are you seeing results in other ways besides weight loss?

Re: Ok - I am stalled

how long have you been stalled? Dr. Atkins describes a stall as no weight loss or loss of inches for atleast 4 weeks.

one little thing i noticed in your post it that you are using the "Atkins" shakes. those are strongly NOT recommended by many of us on this board. they are known stallers, and should be considered a "frankenfood". i personally have never used the shakes, but have used the bars in the past, and they definately caused me to stall. so since restarting on june 2nd, i have not relied on any such frankenfoods and have had great success.

i would suggest dropping the shakes, and up your veggies, judging by your menu posted, you may not be getting enough. you should be getting 2 cups salad veggies, plus another cup from the other veggies list.

i wish you much success and hope the scale starts moving soon for you. also, if you haven't taken your measurements yet, you really should do that. you may be losing inches but it's just not showing up on the scales.

Thanks. I did not see that about the shakes....

I should have posted that I am trying to make sure that I get all of my vedgeies...

The stall is now - 5 days long....so - OK I am over-reacting....I just want the scale to MOVE!!!!

I do need to take measurements. Clothes are fitting better....but I am impatient for it to all fall off.

You should definitely measure. You're not stalled unless you are not losing weight or inches. Read this thread I started, it might help you.

Also, I agree about cutting out the Atkins shakes. Good luck!

I totally agree with the measurements. I was "stalled" for almost three weeks. So I thought cause the scale wasn't moving and it is soooo frustrating when you don't see the numbers go down.

However the inches were going down. Seeing some change in something is such a reward for all the hard work you're doing! Now go buy a tape measure! haha!

Make sure you are drinking enough - I know in hot weather if I don't drink my body holds on to fluids.

I would ditch the shakes and vary up your menu. It sounds like you are eating the same thing over and over. Maybe some fun salads or new protien sources???

Re: Ok - I am stalled

i'm glad to see you are trying to get your veggies in. Momma2threegirls makes a good point about getting enough fluids. you should be drinking atleast 8 8oz glasses of water + another 8 ozs for every 25 lbs you want to lose.

that brings me to another point, you didn't post any stats......starting weight, current weight, how much your want to lose, etc. if you don't have alot to lose, the weight will come off slower.

also, if you are past your initial 14 days induction, you may want to try moving on to OWL phase instead of staying on an extended induction. many people who have "stalled" when doing an extended induction post they started losing again after they start uping their carbs. the first rung is only adding another 5 net carbs of the allowed induction veggies, so it's not really all that big of a move. you can take as long as you'd like at each rung. that might be something to consider.

                  best wishes,
                  monie

                    Thanks folks.

I did measurements last night - I wish I had measurements from before I started. It was discouraging to see the measurements compared to what I measured several years ago the last time that I was strict with this WOE/WOL....

I will switch to the first OWL...and see if that helps.

Oh - and it is TOM...showed up last night.....so......maybe that is where the stall is coming from.

Re: Ok - I am stalled

Obviously I can't speak for TOM, but I would suggest a couple things:

                        (1) Track what you eat, either on fitday or on paper. I have been surprised by how FEW calories I get in a day considering some of the fatty foods I'm eating. Apparently a Bacon Double Ultimate Cheeseburger from Jack in the Box is NOT too high in calories once you toss the bun, the fries, and a Mountain Dew!

                        (2) As another poster said, vary your menu. My experience has been that my body will go on strike if I always feed it the same thing over and over. Apparently my body doesn't like routines! Eat a non-traditional breakfast one day, switch the veggies up (or how they are prepared), and pick a day to eat something you've never tried before (spaghetti squash, jicama, duck?).

                        (3) Are you staying hydrated? I'm not one to take in 100s of ounces per day, but I try to drink 16-32 ounces per meal. I just recently discovered flavored seltzer water (flavoring, but NO artificial sugar) which has been a nice addition to filtered tap water for the past three weeks.

                        (4) Stop stressing! I know I get discouraged when the scale doesn't move so I have tried to stick to not weighing myself more than once every two weeks. The anxiety of seeing that number drop could actually be the root of your problem. Yes, it's hard to walk past the scale in the morning, but I know that it's much more likely for the scale to move over a two week period than over a 24-hour one!

If you need to see something move daily, why not lay in the back yard and watch the grass grow or maybe time a snail as it crosses the sidewalk - those activities might yield faster change than daily weigh ins!

Whatever you do, don't give up! focus on the positive changes that have already taken place. Frequent the message boards for inspiration (and a new recipe to try). And prepare yourself for the day when I post that I have stalled for 3 weeks and just can't go on -- I'll need YOU to keep ME focused then!
