  • Everyday is looking a litttle bit brighter!

    Happy Saturday!

I feel such a sense of power and control this morning! Since I have been
doing Atkins I have not given in to allowing my family to have fast food or pizza delivery. My children had friends over last night and I gave
in to ordering a pizza. The thought of Pizza and a cold Micholob Ultra to go with it scared me. I was nervous that I would cave when the
pizza came through the door. I decided that I would eat before the
    pizza got there.

I made myself little pizzas with revolutionary rolls and
used a tsp of Marinara sauce. They made brownies for dessert. I thought they smelled good but, didn't have that overwelming desire to
have one. When my daughters friends went to leave, asked them
to take the leftovers with them. I really feel like I am in control. If I can do this can do anything!

I understand how important induction is. When it's done right, you really lose the desire for the bad carbs. I have found the recipe board so helpful in replacing bad carbs with good food substitutes. All these years
that I have had an addiction to Soft drinks, Beer, Bad carbs and sweets.
I feel like I am really in control and can handle it. I do not have
a desire for any of those things.

For those struggling through the first few weeks. Stay with it! You feel
better day by day. Every day feeling a little stronger and in control. The
time that you have waisted thinking about food will be replaced with more productive thoughts. With all the new energy will want to get up and get busy. Get out and enjoy the day!

Thanks to all of you for the valuable informaton and support.

isn't it a great feeling to have such control on food. the atkins approach like you said "when done right" is amazing. my whole life i've let food control me and i know that i now have control over it. way to go not letting those temptations get the best of you. you'll see that everyday you will grow stronger, and should you have a moment of weakness come on, just remember how you felt today and hopefully that will be enough to get you through it.

            Mel,
Doesn't the victory of overcoming such obstacles feel so much better than that pizza and michelob or brownies? Way to go, you are doing awesome. Atkins is amazing, so many times I've caved into other diets because I couldn't overcome the overpowering cravings, now thanks to Atkins, I can eat and by satisfied. Keep up the good work Mel!

Re: Everyday is looking a litttle bit brighter!

              Hi everyone.

Thank you all for the support. Together we have strength in numbers. Hope everyone did well this weekend and stayed on track.
I am finding that it is easier with each passing weekend. You stay busy with more activities, home projects etc. Don't you feel like you are thinking more clearly and more productive?

We had grilled chicken for dinner last night with coleslaw. It was really good. I never would have thought to make coleslaw before. I would have thought that it would be too fattening. I am getting all kinds of ideas from the message board. My family is enjoying some of the recipes as well. It's my little secret that it's low carb.

Had a little bit of a gain 1.5 lb. I haven't gone off plan so I am thinking
that it is water weight. I am trying not to be a slave to the scale. Clothes are fitting better and I am feeling better. That's what counts!

Exercise Goal tonight: 45 min cardo and Billie Blanks dvd.

              Have a great day.

How long does the metal taste in your mouth last? I am into my fourth week. I guess there is an advantage to it. I am wanting to drink constantly to get rid of it. It is more noticable than the first few weeks of induction.

I'm on week 5 and it's been a bit more predominant than ever before. Especially in the mornings. But, like you, I'm drinking a ton of water because of it. And using a lot of mouthwash and brushing my teeth 3 x a day (compared to 2) so my dentist will be happy

desertrain- thank you for your reply. I will keep brushing and drinking that water. It is going to be a beautiful day here in Florida today. I am going to the YMCA for a fitness clinic. It is a sampler of all the
classes they have. Then home to work in the yard. The goal is to keep
                    moving and stay busy.

                    Have a great day.
