  • frustrated - end of week 3

and I lost NOTHING (scale or inches) this week. I am ve frustrated as I have been clean. I had 1 cup of coffee ALL week. limited my splenda to three times per day drank my water. Sweated my but of outside and exercised formally twice during the week. I am wondering two things..... we've been eating dinner late (like 8pm) and could it be tomatos? Here a typical day:

    Breakfast:
two eggs over easy or scrambled in butter with 2 pieces of bacon or some left over meat

    Snack:
slice of cheese (but I only had a snack twice all week)

    Lunch:
Romaine Salad with meat (usually chicken-sometimes beef), with shredded cheese and blue cheese or creamy garlic (it's 2 carbs per 2 Tbsps and homeade locally)

    Dinner (late):
tomato with olive oil a bit of garlic and fresh mozzarella
meat (grilled) or romaine with meat and avocado as a salad (with the dressings above)

I'm really frustrated. I expect plateaus but to have one wek three seems dissapointing to me especially when I have been staying focused. My plan this week to not ditch avocado and tomato, up my water and see what happens

Re: frustrated - end of week 3

    Hi Momma,

I am ending my 3rd week as well. I haven't lost anything this week either. Have
you taken your measurements. Take your measurements once a week. I was
pleasantly surprised that I have lost inches. My clothes are fitting better. I
also think TOM makes a impact on water retention. Do not get discouraged.
Your body could still be getting adjusted. I know that I try not to eat that late
in the evening. I slip out of the house for an hour or so to go excercise. I am
recharged and able to get more things done and plan for the next day before bed.
You may want to give up your aritfical sweetners for awhile to see if it makes a difference. I also try not to repeat the same food throughout the day other than
eggs. If I have a salad with dressing at lunch do not repeat it for dinner. The same with cheeses including cream cheese. Try not to eat the same thing every
day because your body gets used to it. Also remember to write everything down. It keeps you accountable. I don't know if all of those suggestions are right but, worth
thinking about. I am at the same point you are and have much to learn.

Re: frustrated - end of week 3

I didn't lose anything week 2... it really got to me I ended up scale hopping every morning... so I've asked Hubby to hide the scales which has been for 10 days now. I'm going to weigh once a month until I start needing to weigh each week to find my ccl.

BUT I did measure myself last week & I had lost 6 inches (in total) from hips, arms, thighs & waist.

If I can repeat failure.. then I can repeat success!

That is wonderful that you are losing inches. It's how you are looking and feeling that is important. Not what the scale says. Good for you. Keep on track. Stick to
the plan. Also watch your salt intake. I use sea salt.

There is a good thread right here on inches

It is not all about the scale guys!! Especially if you work out.

Another thing is that to linger in induction when you could move to OWL is not always the right thing to do. Sometimes eating more veggies (Rung 1) will help with weightloss.
Momma it looks like you need a few more veggie carbs in there. Do you use fitday?

Fitday is mind boggling to me. Sitting and loading all the food and then as I started i found that they most of them had to be "customized" and the site moves SO slow. Admitedly I have kind of given up on fitday. Maybe i haven't spent enough time with the site - but with the girls -I don't know where to find more time.

I have been measuring - this week showed no changes.
I'll go read some ofe links

Also, I have been SOOOO tired - like falling asleep standing up - walking zombie tired. I have the ascension fatigue going on and every movement seems laborous.

            Thanks all

Are you taking supplements? Getting enough water? How many net carbs do you eat a day on average? Have you had your thyroid checked lately.
I just hope you feel better sooon.

I like fitday because it keeps me honest. I actually get lost without it. It does take some time when you have to customize but once you have your common dishes in there is gets easier.

Re: frustrated - end of week 3

I take a prenatal vitamin and a calcium mineral complex plus fish oils daily. I was doing great on water -but slacked off 1 day this week.

I have jsut spent over an hour with fitday and haven't even goteen eysterdays menu in just to see the balance grrrrrrrr the system is ticking me off!

I eat 12-18 carbs per day. Mostly cheese, tomato , avocado, salad dressings and some from lettuce. I did not eat cream or sour cream this week.

I think tomatos might be a culprit - I had problems with them when I did Atkins 2 years ago. I will sadly steer clear of them this week (Just as my garden starts to overflow). I'm also going to up my water and drop salad dressing to once a day and see what happens.

I need some energy....... I feel so exhausted...almost drugged feeling. like when you take tylenol Pm or some sleeping pill and can't get up in the morning. It must be a food trigger....don't you think?

I'm sorry your not feelin too good. Maybe it is the tomatoes, try giving it up and see what happens, how much water are u drinking.. i know when i do drink at least 64oz the scale keeps moving, but when i dont get very much in its like my body retains... also is TOM due soon, that could be the culprit!

Make sure you get your 3 cups veggies! Try to get enought fat and protein. Sometimes too low of carbs will hold you back. Keep at it! Its only one week, it took longer than that to put the weight on. I have the same problem, I want to lose fast. You have to let your body do its thing. This isn't a diet, its a WOL!
Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.

I'm with you on Fitday. Everyone raves about it and I feel like a fool everytime I go to the site. I find it intimidating. I guess I just need to devote some time to setting it up.

Just keep at it and you will get the hang of it. There are also other nutrition trackers that you might like better or find are easier to use. I use the one on sparkpeople.com because you can set it up to track net carbs automatically. Dailyplate is another good one. Also, you should be getting 12-15 carbs a day from veggies alone so make sure you are getting those veggies in. Avocado is a "special category food" so the quantity is limited. Good luck!

just a thought, since you said you were exercising, your body could be retaining water. your muscles will retain water to heal between workouts. once the muscles are healed, they will release that water. also, muscle weighs more than fat. with exercise you will build lean muscle so that is where the scales not moving could be coming into play. make sure to keep drinking plenty of water.

it seems to me that you are not eating enough veggie carbs, if you are only eating romaine lettuce as your salad with no other veggies, than you are definately not getting enough carbs. try adding some onions, green peppers, cucumbers and mushrooms to your salad. green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts all are great side dishes along with your meals, too. your weakness may be due to such few carbs coming from your allowed veggies. tomatoes would be fine on your salad as well.

let us know how you are doing, and stay strong, eventually the scales will move.

                          monie

Ok, how do you get more than 8 in with only two cups of the salad veggies and 1 cup of the other list? Is that net carbs or total carbs. I get it if I count total - but if you count net... it doesn't add up b/c you only get 1-2 out of the salad veggies and not more than 4-5 out of the other list. I was playing with Fitday last night to try and get it balanced and I would have had to eat 200 and something calories of pure carb veggies to get the carbs at 5%. I'm going to look into some of the other programs. It's showing my total and fiber carbs - but when you customize each food for net carbs then you have to drop and "lie" about the calories b/c it won't let you keep it with the nesw proportion. The protien and fat ration is dea on - but I have yet to get the Carb % above a three and that's only if I include avocado that day (i realize it's a special food and no part of the veggie requirment)

I mean net carbs. I'm just repeating what I was told here and I had trouble with that in induction too. I was just eating the 3 cups of induction veggies like the book said but sometimes if I ate lower carb veggies my net carbs from veggies would be very low for the day. not2late told me I should be eating higher carb veggies though I don't know where the 12-15 number came from because I can't find it in the book anywhere. I would talk to not2late about it because she's been around much longer than me and knows more. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
